I am probably going to sell my car so I went with a stock rebuild with a transgo shift kit but the guy also builds them heavy duty for 2200. Stock rebuilt w/ shift kit was 1400.
*** Funny thing is now I wish I went with the heavy duty cause my car runs so great now I may just keep it. I just put a new ac compressor, wheels/tires and so much other stuff it wouldnt pay to sell it.

i've heard stories of guys having to replace their tranny after 50k. and replace various other expensive parts on a low mileage car. nowadays, i don't think 100k is much. it's almost like 200K is the new "100k"

Black- 2000 WS6 Trans Am
I bought my 2000 WS6 Trans Am with 78k and the only thing that was serious that got replaced was the transmission and I had to replace two window motors and a headlight motor which was pretty easy. Lucky the guy that owned the car before had to replace the transmission ....... It now has like 79400k

Mine has 133,000 miles rearend went out at 96,000 mi. but was replaced under GM warranty. Other than that it's been running strong, but i think the window motors are on the way out. Very well built cars.

BRIGHT RALLY RED- 2002 CAMARO Z28RS
High-milage Camaro
06 October 2007
I recommend that you have a professional mechanic thoroughly inspect the car. If the car passes the review, I'd buy it. LS1 engines, if taken care of, will serve their owners well for many, many years and at least 250,000 miles.
(LT1's, on the other hand, are known for Optispark and other failures around the 65,000 mile range, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend buying a high-milage LT1 car if you don't plan on making some investments in repairs.)
If I were to purchase a high-milage LS1, I'd install a transmission cooler and a shift kit as preventatives against transmission failure. I'd also install subframe connectors and a torque arm to strenghten the chassis, and a heavy-duty rear end cover to reinforce the aged rear axle. Lastly, I'd drive and enjoy my new investment, and begin modifying it further as resources and my accountant (I mean wife) allowed.
