engine difference between ws6 and vette

As I stated earlier in this thread `98-00 F-body cams are all the same.
Whether the `98 heads are substandard to other's is purely speculation based on the casting process differences. Even if they did flow less it wouldn't be enough to notice a difference.

Differences are dependant on what year car your talking about.
In general all LS1's are the same and make the same power but there are differences between years for Corvette and F-body

`98-00 Corvette and F-body LS1's have different cams but will not show a power difference.
All `01-04 LS1's are the same Corvette GTO and F-body

Absolutely correct! A LS1 is a LS1 is a LS1... The GM HP-ratings were purely marketing.

From a Dig, I'm sure he would pull maybe 2 cars on you, if he sticks it, and then it will stay like that most of the way. I ran up against a buddy of mines C5 Z06 and that was about what it was. Though he is producing more hp than me. I thought it was weird that I stayed that close to him.

Considering the Z06 has 40-60 more rwhp and weighs 3100lbs, you did well! Way to represent F-bodys! I cheer for both sides...(see sig)

Not true......cam is different on ls1 vette.....it will make more power stock.....My friend is a tuner and said he seen 400rwhp on a bolt on ls1 vette...the closest he has seen ona bolt on fbody was in the 370's 380's

Thats just exhaust and lid mods....

Got any links to 400rwhp non-LS6 bolt-on C5s? Most C5s will dyno less than a comparable F-body due to the drivetrain and IRS. Not trying to be an ass, but most Z06 guys are happy to get 400rwhp with bolt-ons and we start with 55HP more.

Keep in mind too that the LS1 in the F-bodies was underrated.

Not under rated just not fully rated.......02 Camaro was 310 @ 5200 while the 02 Vette was 350 @ 5800

And on the other thing about the 400rwhp m6 c5 corvette....I dont got a vid....but if u go to this website and ask them they will tell u...they run a dyno by raleigh.....ask the main guy Ryan he will probally have a dyno chart for it accually

LS1s in Vettes are throttle-by-wire, LS1s in f-bods use cables.

Hot Rod took a new '98 WS6 (320HP) and a new '98 Vette (350HP), both M6s bone stock and tested them back to back on a dyno. The WS6 actually dyno'd higher. Whatever the vette might gain w/ that "better flowing exhaust" is given up w/ the IRS.
