For some God unknown reason they want a pretty penny for the CUCV Blazers.

Yeah but the old Army K5's were not handled with kid gloves either.

My brother made a run out to Connecticut two weeks ago and picked up a 1973 M151-A2. This one was cut laterally across the center and re-assembled some years back. The engine has been rebuilt and it seems to run and drive just fine. The high mount exhaust is a bit annoying when driving it, but overall it is a neat little vehicle. He is still plugging away on his A1 and has the body just about completed.

Does it have a high mount air cleaner or snorkel? That exhaust was for vehicles that forage across rivers. Almost all Marine vehicles have those.

It is not equipped with the intake snorkel -- no clue why they would have one without the other . My brother attended the military vehicle show this past weekend in Findlay, OH and picked up the tailpipe piece for the exhaust system. He will remove the vertical pipe, heat shield and bracket. He also picked up the missing antenna base and now has his antenna mounted and hooked over to the windshield in the down position.

We put the new "Jeep" up in the air last night and upon inspection everything looked to be in good shape. We found some play in the wheel bearings that will need to be addressed and installed a missing exhaust clamp. He originally thought that Jeep was only cut into two pieces, but we also found a longitudinal weld down the center of it as well, so it was a "four piece puzzle" for the original purchaser.

Here's a pic from this weekend. The antenna base and antenna have been installed and he swapped out the high mount exhaust for a standard tail pipe below the rear bumper. It sounds a whole lot better now with the tail pipe. He registered and insured it last week and is now driving "legal", just has to get an inspection sticker on it within 15 days. I have to rig up a license plate light and maybe a better mounting setup than a few zip ties. Only catch is that the electrical system is 24 volts.

Maybe two 12v lights wired in series? Would that work for 24v? (no clue)

I asked him where the .50 cal was when he brought it home.
Jumped on Amazon and ordered a 24 volt Hummer light housing to try. We'll paint it OD Green and it should look the part.

We mounted up the wheels and tires he had for his A1 last night and went for a ride. The tires on the A2 were pretty much shot with lots of wear and checking. Canvas top should be on its way and he is also tracking down doors and the rest of the bits necessary to complete the cabin enclosure.

They still inspect classics and antuques?

If you run a regular registration plate - yes. They have an antique registration plate in PA which avoids inspections, however, that does come with use restrictions.
