Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
Factory Freaks don't have different parts it's just that the engines seem to run as though they are blueprinted. Meaning perfect Ring seating, Compression, Bearing tolerences, Valvetrain geometry, etc...
And it's obvious that different drivers will have different results but don't forget Altitude has a big influence on the amount of power any engine can make.
And most quick times are done at tracks close to Sea Level.Craig

Thats what happens with a mass produced assembly line engine.
BTW all 02s had LS6 intakes and the same heads...some had LS1 and some had LS6 blocks but that been proven time and time again to have no effect on performance (and I have a 02 with a LS6 block and a 02 with an LS1 block...so I am not biased!

well as for the Factory freaks...
as its known in the ..tuner world (JDM) its been explained that every so often a factory takes an engine off the line and "inspects it" now we all have a boss right?
what better way to get boss points than show that as a floor and assembly manager that your engines are "PERFECT"....

Black- 2002 Camaro SS M6
Well sir, please accept my apology. i didnt mean to misuse the term "factory freak". but i just didnt know what to call the cars that came with different parts than normal.
I mean, some 98 f-bodies came with c5 cams. some later f-bodies came with LS-6 blocks. these little differences could account for 2 tenths of a second.

although mixed reports say that there are no differences in performance some say there is a gain.
there is even a thread somewhere on here that i read a while back, a guy pulled heads off his camaro, and they were not the right casting number, they were something else, it was a stock car and he was original owner. although i am in class right now and dont have time to keep running searches, but look around, its probably still on here somewhere.Last edited by Insert; 09-22-2008 at 07:47 AM. cams were changed to get rid of the egr... the LS6 block was a mistake made in the mexico plant... as far as i know no head mistakes or changes were made at any plant... and the guy was probably looking at the wrong number because you don't need to pull the heads to see the casting number....
