How fast will my 2001 SS go ?

ok guys....yes there is always more..untill you reach 170ish..especially when you only get up to 130 or 145..since the governors are set at 162..and many people have reached them..so sorry i might be coming of as jerk..but there is like 3 posts saying the same thing..that is already known

Open the hood of your Camaro, and look towards the upper right hand side. There is a small switch there labelled "160 m.p.h. Governator". Switch it to the off position and you are good to go.

there is also one on the left side, that if u turn on the car flys

HPTuners says that the governor is set at 162 mph from the factory for 2001 LS1 Camaros. I only hit the governor once racing a 2002 Z06 on the interstate. It sucked because it just cut the engine off. I've since had the governor bumped up. I don't think that you can completely erase the governor with HPTuners, but you can bump it up to like 256 mph so that there is no way you could hit it.

well how did the race go against the 02 ZO6 ?

I pulled 2 cars on him 2nd-4th. When I hit 5th he pulled back hard, and passed me. At that time my car had a good tune and the basic bolt-ons like lid, LTs, ORY, and catback. The Z06 was stock.

The fastest that i've had my camaro was at 143. Playing with a BMW M3. Had it in fifth gear and had plenty of pedal left. Scaring the crap of the other people though that we were passing.

I've had my 98 z-28 up to 140-145 and it was still pulling pretty hard. It's a a4 with 3.23 all stock.Mine don't even go into 4th gear until 130-135.I think mine will do at least 155-160.

I took mine up to 155 in fifth gear yesterday and than switched it to sixth and relised how fast i was going than i let off. but if the car is governed at 162, how fast could it really go if it wasn't gov?
