ford is saying the brake system "yes, the entire system" needs to be replaced every 15,000 miles as routine maintenance...........thats what they told my friend
ford refuses to do a recall. a guy somewhere in the US wrecked his car into the side of a dealership about 2 months ago when he was taking it in to have the brakes looked at. His brakes failed, and he literally drove into the side of the dealership....

dont buy one...you need to look at actual reviews/forums and not what motor trend tells you after they beat the hell out of the car for a day. Many people all over the country are having A LOT of mechanical issues with these cars after 10-15,000 miles and I know a hand full of them personally. The motors are great, the body style looks good, but they have some serious brake, drive train, and mechanical issues that have yet to be resolved. Not to mention the window motors have to be replaced about every 4 months because they drop about an inch and a half everytime you unlock your doors because the door cannot open with the window up "good luck if the battery dies lol"...as long as you are under warranty these cars would probably be pretty cool to own, but everybody I know that owned one "with the exception of one person" has sold it and gotten the hell away from it.

Most cars drop the window to open the door. Its usually less than an inch just like the mustangs. Never seen any stang ssr vette camaro go through window motors every 4 months because of it...
Haven't heard about the brake problem either

We had the window felt freeze to the glass on our Challenger last winter and had a bitch of a time with the door. Stupid ass design for cold weather imo.

Here's some of the stuff I found from a quick search...seems like the issues revolve around the control arms, 6speed tranny, and brakes. "and yes I know some of these people are just b!tching just to b!tch..."

Not sure if the techs you spoke with either cant say what the problem, cant discuss it, or just dont know about it but like I've said quite a few times...I personally know multiple people who had problems with them "not being biased, I used to own a 97cobra". 2 of my friends were given the same answer from ford and they stated that the braking system has a known issue that they are trying to figure out and they were both recommended to replace the systems under warranty after 15,000miles.

Had a 2012 Boss. About the only thing in common with a GT was the Getrag chinese made 6 spd. Motor, Brakes, Suspension, wheels/tire, are all different components. I put 12.6k on the Boss and shifted at 7K rpm enough times to know if something was gonna break it woulda happened. I've heard that in colder climates the tranny fluid did not perform well but I did not have that issue here in hot ass Texas. It did not like being forced and manhandled into gears tho. I did have some wheel hop but nothing a set BMR LCA's didn't cure. No other mods were necessary. Obviously, a GT is going to feel a little mushy with more roll in the suspension to me. The only time I've heard of the #8 failure was due to a bad or risky tune.
Currently own a 2014 GT500. Ummm, it's incredible. Needs wider rears and maybe a set of BMR LCA's to bite the pavement better. The tires are pretty sticky when heated up but 662 HP still breaks loose easy enough...Last edited by Huskerz1; 07-06-2013 at 06:46 PM.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Modded a customer's '13 last year with 1240 miles on it. Magnaflow catback and AirRaid cold air intake. I think it also had a short throw shifter in it. I thought it sounded mean stock. I was wrong. After I installed the pipes and CAI, the car REALLY growled. Took it for a drive afterward and I liked it. Customer gives a rev sometimes while he passes my job. I don't know if he had headers installed as the car sounds downright evil now.

I raced a cammed/heads 4.6L Mustang back when I was stock aside from my exhaust and lid. I pulled a car length before I even hit 3rd and he jumped the gun on me.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.
