Where did you get the date? Is it stamped somewhere, or derived from the VIN?

There is a build date for each car, on the 4th gens I believe it's on the door.

You do need to call to find out when your car was first put into service though. Apparently, that matters if you wanted to claim an extended warranty such as the 10yr/100k for the Cats. I missed the 10 yr mark by two weeks according to GM

I also love the look of the T-Tops, but just the look. I could't care less if the top comes off. I would be more happy with a permanently attached smoked glass roof with the sunshades. It would't rattle and it would't leak. But it sure as hell would look good !

With the new retro trend in pony cars, I sometimes worry that the TA looks dated, though I still love it. Anyone else think they're showing their age, getting a little dated? Maybe not, with the Corvette still being around and having that basic shape still...

To me the new corvette is a short piece of plastic with a engine.it looks too short and is slowly beganing to look like a RICE burner.I would't buy one if they cut the price by $20,000. I hate what they have done to a great car.True it runs great,but the new look is not to my taste.I am thinking about buying a little earlier one.

I probably wouldn't turn away a brand new ZR1 or ZO6, but the rest of the new vettes I don't care for much.

If I were looking for a newer vette, I'd go for an 03-04 Z06. Still plenty fast and nimble to be a fun car.

I agree completely. I am certainly a fan of the performance, but definitely not a fan of the looks of the new Corvettes. I much prefer the look of the C5, maybe because it's so similar to the 4th-gen Firebird... Or any previous model...

I agree. The sun roof makes it look cheap. Rather they leak or not, I love my T-Tops. It's one of the reasons why I owned so many F-bodies.

'98-02 WS6 is still the best looking Fbody ever, and the retro guys can suck on that. If it makes you feel any better, my '02 is now 10 1/2- Build date of 9/30/01.

Who cares, we're keeping these things forever.

Hell yeah, that's pretty much my plan as well. I had a 98 TA for 7 years and it only took me about 1 day to regret selling it. This one's not going anywhere!
