i'm in your boots somewhat...
i travel a lot so i know where you're coming from. also same as you, my car has been a project car. mine is in the shop.. i just don't have the place or tools to do the work being done to it. in the end i know i will enjoy the car. it's nothing special, but it's somewhat special to me. i hate spending all the money i'm putting in it, but no sense in cutting corners to get it up and running and not have it the way i want. spend the extra dollar, do it once, do it right. enjoy.
i hate this car, but i also love it.

Let LSCamino tear it down for you and part it out. He'll have it done in a few hours. Lol. Seriously, I would just buy a used long block off ebay and drive it and enjoy it. Everyone I've ever known that sank $50,000+ into there car just to race it a few years and impress people they don't know or even care about ended up selling it later for a fraction of what they put into it cause they lost interest in racing and found the car to be undrivable/enjoyable.

I'm with Jeff..
I'm over 3 years on my build now, over that time I built a new building just for the project and stock piled all the parts I need to put her together.
Like you,, work (add a marriage and being a dad to that) has had me crazy busy, I get to it when it can.
I used to worry about getting it done and trying to get time for it.
I have since just desided to do what I can WHEN I can.
It's not going anywhere and without it on the road it's safe and sound and not gaining any weather/road damage and such.
Also gives me time to think about ideas and anything I may want to change, or add to it before it's finished.
During that time the project changed into a complete restore.
I got rid of the Camaro.
I then replaced it with a new toy (08 H3) to fill the fun void in the meantime and I don't have to work on it since it's fully waranteed.
I figure worst case, by the time I finish the Z34, the Hummer will be ready to be a project and I'll also be ready to build something new.
Up to you, just my .02..Last edited by Smittro; 01-27-2012 at 12:20 PM.

It is less expensive to buy a drag car than to build one. That said, if you have the bucks and the platform, why not? Later on, debt (be it real estate, family, or whatever) always seems to take priority so if you have an opportunity to build it to last I vote for doing it now rather than putting it off. Writing a huge check for a new engine is always tough, but it is all the little items that truly add up (in my experience), like safety equipment, suspension parts, tires, wiring, heavy duty externals, body work to accommodate wheels and tires, computer...

blue- 2000 SS
If you really like it then keep it. If your indiferent about it then sell it and get somthing you really like. If you do really like it you will be kicking yourself for selling it like I am. Quick story I bought my 00SS brand new ordered it the way I wanted it and waited about 11 weeks for it. Later met a girl got married bought a house and started a family. I had a Ford ranger and after about a year the ranger wasn't big enough and I needed a pickup. the Ranger was a piece and wasn't worth any thing so I sold the SS, because after the kid it sat for 2 years being driven three times in the 2 years, and Bought a silverado. Now a year later and I'm divorced and Miss my car alot. I should've just got rid of the wife I know. Because now the ranger would have been fine and I would still have my SS.

Either way, we have the same opinion. Ron should keep his car if that's what he's saying, and he wants to build it up.
