I'm glad I'm not the only one losing interest... Been building this 78 off and on for two years... Almost ready for the track, but my 98 keeps me to busy between races...

I thought about selling my Firebird so I can use that cash to help me get a car that'd be more suitable for every day life, while being fun to drive, but because it's literally costing me nothing (but 25 a year for registration, it's not insured right now), I can't justify selling it as I already have access to a newer (though "blah") sedan. I've thought about the different types of cars I could potentially own, but because I'm freelance (money isn't steady), I definitely am not comfortable with taking a loan. Looking at what else is out there, I quickly lose interest because the stuff I REALLY want are A) super impractical, or B) out of my price range. So in the end, I keep the bird. Maybe now that the Chevelle is gone, you wont feel so overwhelmed and the Camaro will seem more appealing.

Like you guys I am pulled in multiple directions. Do I get rid of the Camaro and get an expensive sports car or do I get a middle of the road sports car and buy a new motorcycle AND beef up the Z28 and make it a track car? Lots of ways to go and I dont know what to do. The Z28 would be fantastic to make a bad ass car but I miss having a bike and I would LOVE an expensive sports car. lol

I think everyone goes through something like this. Now that I'm older I would base the decision on the type of car before I did anything extreme.
As far as 4th gens go, they are still currently easy to obtain, plenty forsale. If I had to let something go it would be that, albiet for not much cash value. As for the collector cars that's a little different.
They are harder to obtain, much more expensive to replace, and always increase in value. Very easy to sell them but much harder to buy. Depending on what model classic you have could sway the decision.
I went through this 30 years ago when they weren't worth so much, and was lucky to hang onto what I had. Now looking back it was a smart move. Some of these cars are worth more than the current house market. Even if I wasn't enjoying them, I could stash them away and it wouldn't cost a dime out of my pocket.
Selling them sometimes crosses my mind, but the money comes and goes, sometimes without anything to show for it. If you have a daily driver already, I'd just stash the cars away until a later date. Even if that's 20 years from now. Great to share with kids if you don't have them already. Some of my stuff has been sitting around since the mid 80's. I know I'll eventually get to it
Now if you are making payments on them and want to be debt free, that's a little different.

I go through this all the time. I've put 220 miles on my car this YEAR and don't feel like driving it at all. I think about selling it sometimes but I bought it new and it's only got 18k miles on it so I can't bring myself to let it go.

exactly! I worked in a garage and body shop for several years and got to the point where i hated the thought of going home and working on my own cars, even was to the point where you are at where there wasn't even joy in driving them.
if your not hurting for money keep the cars, you will get back into it, if you are hurting for money, don't sell the cars because in the end you will have have no cars, AND be broke lol.
to help out, get a fun project like a gocart, R/C car, or even an old air cooled VW.....just something new and different to enjoy for awhile

For myself I always have something/project going on but have limited time for the past couple years..
I always seem to end up getting back into an F-body lol..
I am already looking @ my 5th Camaro (3rd gen) roller.. Buddy has an 84 Z that needs restored..
Currently getting the eye roll from the wifey though..
However, there's likely going to be another Camaro sitting in my driveway soon..
I have a second LQ1 project started as well, and then there's also the Hummer I plan to throw some money at too..
I have an 86 motor home with ~35k on the clock that has a nice 350 4bolt, and a th400 just iching to be reborn into something else..
I'm also into R/C's have a bunch of those, maybe get an airplane @ some point too..
Good thing I have a couple shops to play in, or I'd likely be posting from the "dog house" these days..
