My eleven year old is really into this topic. I will do my best to continue his interest in this. Every night we look for space shows on TV, it opens the mind to anything.

The last one I was stunned to be wrong about was the words Folk and Polk.
The L's are not soft as I thought but 100% silent, which I still find hard to believe. They're both supposed to be pronounced Foke and Poke. Although I find most people still slightly pronounce the L's, being the stickler I am, I have to now force myself to stop it.

Here in the midwest, Minnesota especially, I have a hard time listening to people refering to any carbonated beverage as "pop." That, and they pronounce bag as "bay-g." I try to tell them that the vowel is short, not long. They don't get it.
I give my wife hell for it all the time.

My friend from St. Louis used to always pronounce the word Warm like Farm.
So I told him it's supposed to be pronounced like Swarm. So he said Swarm to me just like Arm!
I kept telling him over and over, it rhymes with War not Car!
The funny thing is a few months later I noticed he didn't do it anymore, and when I confronted him, he played it off like he always said it the right way!
Now I just gotta get him to stop saying Expecially!

Sorry to get "off topic" with my last post.
I personally can't stand it when people say "warsh" instead of "wash".

i love how creatonists dont understand quantum thinking or the big bang so in their infinite desire to have an answer of some sort the answer they can comprehend is intelligent design and creationism. all out of convenience. i dont understand how the computer i am on works but does this mean its related to some religous deity? no. it means engineers and science savvy guys invented said machine. jus like the car,tv, etc.

Perhaps I'm just an idiot who doesn't understand the great proof and evidence of the big bang, but it's got to be one of the most hair brained theories I've seen that definitely seems like someone flat pulled out of their ass. Their proof and evidence is just the basis for more interpretation resulting in total guesses it seems to me. I believe however the universe was created we have no real notion of how or why it happened in the least.
The Big Bang is just as much grasping at straws to explain it as Creationism is IMO. As smart as our quantum and astro -physicists are/think they are I don't think they have a freaking clue about it in reality... But who knows, maybe they're spot on...Last edited by Camaro Fan; 03-18-2006 at 04:40 PM.

I agree. There is alot of theory involved which has shown from the past to eventually break down and be disproven. It all breaks down to the limit of our technology and understanding of the way things work. There is always "somthing smaller" or a reason for a reason somthing works. Without the challanges theory brings about to be disproven we would never find out what the real facts are or atleast what a more accurate theory is. I say roll with it for now. Its the most accurate and belivable theory out there right now. When you really think about it, it really shows you how much we do not know.

I am not a religious person, but I have no clue what "Big-Bang" is. Can someone please explain. I asume it has something to do with God. Explain.
