Yeah I remember doing piston on my two stroke, was a bitch trying to hold the rings in place and slide the jug down over it. Maybe head gasket is shit also, sometimes fucktards try to reuse them. And why did they go 20 over on a first bore. 10 over at a time if you are just refreshing it. Gets you max number of uses before you have to resleeve it.

i have no clue why they bored it 20 over. i dont have much history on it except its a titled 92 fram and has a 03 motor/plastics and other misc pieces/parts. headgasket is new. its a metal headgasket. i will try copper spraying it as ive done that with some other multi layered gaskets. although the one on the shee is a single layer metal gasket

ok i put the top end back together. the rings are lined up and in their correct seated position. i pissed with the reed petals and got it to where they seal again, and even swapped the 2 reed cages (the one that i fixed that had clipped petals) i put in the right and then the other flawless set in the left. kicked it, and once again it only runs on the right cylinder. im just out of ideas completly.

Have you checked to make sure the carbs are synced? I'm thinking if the guy that rebuilt the motor didn't sync the carbs than its basically dumping fuel into the cylinder and fouling the plug before it has a chance to fire. I'm also thinking thats why its jacking up the petals because when it runs its trying to compress the gas in the cylinder and it forces it back out the reeds. I had other suggestions but I forgot,I'll post them when I remember.

i dont know how to sync the carbs. except for the fact i screwed in the idle screws and backed them out at the same one that the right carb is set at as it runs on the right

The jetting could be different in the carbs. For what reason, I don't know. Compression check!

yes i know i need to do a compression check...im also debating on buying new carbs for it off ebay. they run for about 10 bucks on their all the time...and it mite solve my problems that im having. as when i got this banshee i have 2 sets of pipes for it. 1 set being fmf fatty's and the other set are toomy's and they require different jetting. and i dont have a jet kit to know what size is in these carbs

It's quicker to tear them open to check for identifiers than taking the top end off

i wasnt feeling very good today so i didnt wanna tear into this thing all day, but i did tear the tops off the carbs and pulled the needles out. on the left cylinder (the dead one) the needle clip was set all the way at the bottom(which is the richest setting available) so i moved it to the 2nd from the top (almost all the way lean) tore the cap off the right (running cylinder) and found the needle clip set at the 2nd from the top also, so i was good there....primed it, and kicked the day lights out of it, and still only runs on the right cylinder. so my last hope is to get a compression checker to see where its at. it should be that bad being a fresh rebuild, unless they bored it more than 20 over, but i know that the pistons are 20 over as i looked the part numbers that are stamped into them up via the inter webs....i tried to wiggle the pistons in the cylinder and they dont wiggle which would mean that they are very similar in size compared to the cylinder

youre telling me...most of the time i enjoy projects like this. but when i buy it from someone that doesnt have a clue as to hwta their doing it makes me mad more than enjoying it. because i have to search for the things that they may or may not have screwed up. im getting stressed out over it, and am just ready for it to run, or sell it and take a loss

well a friend of mine just simply reccomended swapping the left carb for the right. so i did...kicked it over and now it runs on the left cylinder and dead on the right. so that tells me something is definatly messed up in the carb thats normally on the left side....im pretty happy about this find! so ill spend the 10-20 bucks for a diff set of carbs off ebay and this thing should be ready to rip. heck yes!!

lol yea i even swapped out reed cages from side to side..never thought about swapping carbs, as their kinda built to only work on their respected sides as the choke set up gets in the way, so i just simply tilted the tops of the carbs away from each other and it was enough to see that she came to life....after it ran out of fuel it was sizzling, my guess is because it probably has an ass load of unburnt gas/oil in there again
i agree on the hondas. i grew up on honda 3 wheelers. they would run forever...now i have 2 yammy's and a zuki..1 of the yammys being a little 125cc trimoto 3 wheelerLast edited by SteveCZ28; 01-17-2011 at 06:10 PM.

i did clean it.... i dont know whats wrong with it to just pour fuel out in the cylinders tho....and for 10-20 bucks for another set, i really dont care as to why its not working right

Tear the bitch down and put it back together with new gaskets and other misc. Parts that way YOU know what's going on in there. Go factory with the timing ect. Beats the frustration and in the mean time have your local bike shop whatever sync/rebuild the carbs. That's what I would do if I didn't know the history on it

it is factory timing...doesnt have an adjustable stator plate in there like some banshee owners like to put in....im not worried bout the carbs ill just snag a set off ebay...and i know how the top end is and some of the bottom end as i was doing exploratory investigation of the motor lol
