If your sump uses 6 quarts just substitute 1 quart of 20-50 and you gain much more benefits than Lucas Snake Oil. Virgin Oil Analysis doesn't bullshit>
Just trying to remember, isn't the Lucas UCL a product that Lucas bought from another company, rather than their own formulation like their other products?

I've never used that Lucas Oil Stabilizer for that very reason. But they sure have convinced a bunch of people (gullible people, I guess) to use it based on their little mini gear display at the counter of many auto parts stores. Snake oil with effective enough marketing will make $$, eh?

On Fuel Treatments. Todays fuel is some shitty stuff. Blame ethanol. We lost lead and that was the lubricant. Todays fuel...well....It is corrosive as hell. Attracts moisture like a water magnet.... You need a lubricant and a cleaner. Now ethanol has some cleaning properties.....but a good upper cylinder cleaner is a good thing. Lucas? Think about this for a second......how good is a product that you just "dump in" and really have no measuring required? Pretty damn sparse. Use TCW3 or MMO or nothing. I really like/have heard/seen thousands of folks who have been utilizing the TCW3 with great success.....I hate "shock" fuel treatments. SeaFoam is a shock treatment. You put that shit in your fuel and I wont. My gaskets/injectors/fuel pump thank me.

Oil additives? Well....if your running any SM or the latest SN oils you really are gaining absolutely nothing by adding anything to your oil. I use to like AutoRx but with the new standard "SN" I will be honest....I think any of the SN rated oils are better without it today. So I can no longer recommend AutoRx.

I will say there are motors out there (Toyota mainly) that just flat ass are sludgers.
If you have a sludger motor (piss poor PCV design usually) or you just bought a used car and don't know the maintenance record....I would prefer to see you run 20% Marvel Mystery Oil the last 1000 miles of your oil change interval at the least for a few OCI's. MMO is a gentle cleaner. Works great. I run it occasionally for an entire OCI. So if I have a 6qt sump....I would put in 5 quarts of my regular oil and substitute one quart of MMO.
Whoa! Thumbs down now on AutoRx? That's a big switch, ain't it? Isn't it an even gentler cleaner than MMO? Just wanting to make sure... you're more the expert on it than me.

Just a little tip, if you get a little over zelous with it,,,you tend to leave a mild smoke trail, but you didn't hear it from me,,,lol.

You must've seen someone who put a bit too much in, eh? Couldn't have been you lol.

Anyway, should I be able to find the TCw3 at any auto parts place? Might go look for some soon.

As I said....todays new SN rated oils have so much cleaning add packs...it renders the AutoRX virtually a waste. I mean I still have plenty left in my garage and use 4oz maintenance doses....but after that is used up I will not replace the stash. AutoRX provided great cleaning abilities with older oils....but that is just not accurate anymore.

OK, I see. Like you, I still have plenty bottles of it and will continue with maintenance doses.

I didn't realize how good the new SN rated oils are. Great news.

Ha, after several fillups of obviously not measuring accruately enough (I was rounding the amount to the greater), the car started to run like crap with a light dust of smoke I knew what was happening.
After I ran a couple gallons out (fuel gauge started moving) I topped it off with gas again (no additive) and did that a couple of times. Cleared right up.

Yup. There was (recently) a guy that put a gallon of Marvel Mystery Oil in his airplane fuel. Engine dies and so did he. Moral here is to measure it. Not hard to do.

can you provide me any sources on this? You seem to know a lot about oils/fuel treatments etc but I'd feel better seeing it in writing in addition to what you said before trying this.

If the world was made up of 2 stroke engines, it would be a better place. And, no I'm not talking about the old smokey 2 strokes, I'm talking about the modern clean 2 strokes. Superior design to 4 strokes IMHO.
