    236/240 .578 .589 on a 114. 110 ICL

He says this cam will clear, im not too sure. Wondering on your guys opinions really. Im ready to order it, and my other necessity's. If it does, it should make some good power with the heads.
Well if you're not going through the checking procedure I outlined above then I would just make sure your engine builder will warranty the cam install before you drive it away

I will check, for sure! Im installing also. Just trying not to have to send it back for something else. I doubt I find anyone to warranty a aftermarket cam install unless its a hot cam or the sort!

the 236/ 240 seems a bit high. but it may work. i would go a lilttle lower to make sure. 10- 20 hp or a motor?

And with a camshaft ground like that with 240 deg. at .050 ground with 114 deg of lobe sep it's going to be a little high strung too so you are definately going to want those 4.30 gears you were thinking about

Thats what I was thinking. I never really planned on a cam this size, but I might give it a whirl. If I do, I will have to check, and re-check.

Well, I went threw with it. Ordered the custom grind 236/240 .578 .589 114 tonight.

    Tomorrow, ordering 4.30 gears.

Sounds good. That thing will love rpm with a 114 lobe sep so the 4.30's will work nicely. Another plus is the fact that the cam is 114 degrees, and 4 degrees of advance gives you only 110 deg intake center line,,,,this gives you a little more wiggle room on the intake valve clearance than most other cams that are ground tighter and also have advance as well.
Hope it works out for you.

Alright, plans changed slightly. I ended up going with a 230/236 .573 .578 114 instead of the 236/240.

I think I will be happier with the slightly smaller cam. This is my street car, that will ee some track time here and there afterall.

Also, going with 4.11 gears/ not 4.30. Things always changing. But its all ordered up. Just a hair over 700 bucks. Thought I would post cause im happy and excited, finally.

If it were an LS1...I would agree.

With the extra cubes though, I would have stuck with the 236/240.

Hopefully, I did the right thing for my car.

Don't sweat it. It'll work nicely. To some of us certain duration numbers at .050 are big and some not so much. Those are pretty tame numbers to me but should make good power and keep ya happy a while.

Does that make ya feel better???

Yea, I will probably want to change my mind 10 times. If I would have bought the other cam, I would be thinking about this one. Just how I am. I wont even ask for the HP guessing game. I say somewhere from 200 to 500 RWHP.
