I wonder what the new shuttles are going to look like...

The next official craft being built by NASA for astronaut transportation to the ISS and beyond will be that of the rocket & crew capsule type to replace the space shuttle.
However some of the private sector space crafts in development bear a striking resemblance to the original NASA space shuttle.

in addiition to what he said, the capsule will be similar to that of the apollo programs, onyl instead of 3 passenger capsuel they will be a 6 passenger capsule
it is said nasa actually went backwards 40 years into space exploration when they developed the space shuttles. if we had kept the apollo prgram we would be landing on mars by now, as toward the end of the apollo program they actaully got some of the fuel mixtures straightened out in the saturn 5b rockets to where they were achieving maximum burn and thrust, and "fuel economy"

I saw on tv that when they are going to retire the space shuttles. The new rockets won't be available for a few years and they were going to use private rockets and other countries to go into space. Is this still true?

i never saw one up close, but when my family and i lived in florida as a kid, i coul watch the launches from my house ( a good 130 miles away) i could see the launch plain as day, and was still somewhat big in the sky also....night launches were the best for obvious reasons, i could watch up till the s.r.b staged jetison ( or seperation) the landings were ungodly loud...the sonic boom from those damn things were honest to god loud enough to make u think a car hit your house...the first time one came in for a landing and the sonic boom hit, it shook the house i literally ran outside thinking a car would have been in the side of our house. it was a few minutes later my grandpa called us and informed us it was indeed a shuttle coming back in to land

Pretty cool. I saw it in Titusville which is only several miles away. Very cool to see something and then hear it several minutes later. My friends father has seen them from the control area. A launch is something everyone should see once in there lifetime.

I wonder when the final shuttle launch is, or if they've already had it. Also, if they aren't gonna have rockets for a few years, what will they do to get to the space station?
