Borla adjustable or non adjustable?
Which one sounds better? And which one is louder?

it's up to you which one you like. The adjustable is obviously the one that will allow for any options of sound. I went with the adjustable because I didn't want to get stuck with one sound if i didn't like it. I am running with a wide open plate. It produces the most aggresive sound, it is slightly raspy so if you don't like that, go with more restrictive plates. Does anyone know if running with the plates wide open takes away from the necessary back pressure needed for additional horsepower, or does the muffler present enough??

It is fairly loud at least on my 94, basically becomes a straight pipe. I almost always used the middle plate just because I liked to hear my car but keep it a little subdued and a sleeper (was a B4C so had Camaro badges). Supposedly the middle plate is the best for power as well. Though in another 94 that had the same exhaust we swore it was better wide open.
I would say go with the adjustable myself, is a great exhaust and I am hoping to get another for the 02 biggest drawback is the price.

Adjustable , no plates, LT's w/high flow cats, pretty loud and very raspy. So raspy that I had a muffler delete pipe made to go in place of the Borla Muffler, and mounted an SLP LoudMouth II muffler in the intermediate pipe just ahead of the axle. Happy with that set-up.

I run stock exhaust manifolds, cats and Borla adjustable with the plate that is 2nd only to wide open. I think it sounds good (will like it better with more mods!). People at work tell me it is loud (loud is relative). It is not obnoxious where I get sick of it on a long highway trip. You may want to consider an adjustable if you live in area where the police crack down on noise violatons.

Yeah, I want to be heard but the FUZ really give us teenagers a hard time about noise.
So what restrictor plate would you put in a adjustable borla to make it comparable to a non adjustable?
And do they have pretty much the same tone?

I have the adjustable with the wide open cutout, sounds good. little louder than the second biggest open, wich sounds good too. What size cutout is it? Putting headers on next week and dont want real loud, but want to be able to make it loud with a flip of a switch.

Does the adjustable have the same BORLA tone as the non adjustable? Because the louder of the two tailpipes does not go through a muffler.

gains are probably around 10-18 or so. I wouldn't go as far as 20. I noticed a little more throttle response, but really it's for the sound and then when you get more mods (cams, headers, heads) shit really starts to flow. I have my headers on order, ceramic y pipe, and high flow cats on my bedroom floor waiting for the other stuff. i want to get it dyno-ed and see where it's at. With a full exhaust you are probably looking at around 30 horses gained altogether with one mean ass growl.

So I just bought the adjustable sytem and installed it. This sytem is my first mod to the car.
I put in the largest restrictor plate but it was still REALLY quiet. I'm not complaining at all. It sounds just like I thought it would. I just can't figure out why it is so quiet.
Although my friend has a magnaflow catback on his SS with headers and a ORY. His system sounds much better and louder than mine.

Not sure if you have tried this, but if you want louder there is one plate bigger then the largest restrictor plate. No plate at all
Also for louder remember the bigger the hole in the plate the louder the exhaust will sound.
