Manual or automatic?? That makes a difference. My M6 idles at around 1,000RPM, I believe thats normal for a manual LS1.

Silver- 2000 Camaro SS
my car idles at 1k, sometimes 1500, sometimes 2200 rpms. it just decides how fast it feels like the engine shouldbe going.
but mines a thirdgen... my dads 05 colorado sits at about 700 once in a while. it shouldnt be a problem... if it doesnt die, ur fine

I've never seen a Factory Tach that read right, My tach has read 1000 rpm at idle since the car was new, but I had the car on a Tech II scanner before and it read around 800 rpm.

In gear 750 is a little high for a automatic...mine idled around 550 in gear at running temp and so does my truck. You could always clean the IAC valve just for shits and giggles...other then that it has to be tuned through software to change the idle.

My old 92 silverado had the same engine as your maro except it was a 350...it idled about 600 in gear when warm and about 900 out of gear. It sounds like someone raised your idle for some reason or there's a problem/leak somewhere..i'd spray carb cleaner all around the TBI unit and the manifold to check for vacuum leaks.

if so, im not gonna bother. i got someone comin to look at it tomorrow and its not a problem yet. ill just tell him about it
thanks for the info tho. ill def. keep it in mind
also, my tach might just be off cuz it shifts at 6500rpms when it should be shifting at 5k...
