They are difficult to drive until you get used to the lowend TQ. Race him asap and try not to go past 3rd where he should atleast trap 3-4 mph faster than your listed time. Have fun.

I say race and don't worry about it. If you're the better driver, go from a stop. If you get the jump and you launch harder, he probably won't run you down until 4th. Go out drive him.

Blue- 2001 Formula
I ended up seeing the car and all he had was a airfilter and some sort of spec clutch with a light weight flywheel. we went at it from 45-100 first and i pulled 1.5 cars on him. then we went from 50-145 he called me and asked me to let him pull 3/4 of a car on the horn which i did. I caught up to him through 3rd i missed 4th he pulled a car then i pulled back by the end of 4th. I ended up 2 cars ahead of him by 145. Basically the driving skill was bout the same in the race being i missed 4th and he doesn't shift that quick yet. The last race was a 20mph roll to 75 and i was 3/4 of a car on him at the end. He told me straight out the best driver in the world in his car would not have beaten me in any of the races we had.(i didnt power shift any race or even hammer the gears like i could have) so that just proves cobra's are not as deadly in stock form as everyone thinks.

sounds about right, he's stock pretty much maybe a air filter and a tune

and you got some bolts ons (seen in your sig) so you pull about a car on him. good job.

Well, good kill! I didn't expect you to pull on the high-end with a 110mph trap, but I believe it.

yea i trapped 110 before the long tubes wit the off road y pipe. The headers made a huge difference up high I used to be dead nuts even wit my buddys 06 goat (slp lm,intake, and short throw) between 50-125 now i pull a good 1.5- 2 cars on him in the same race.

Well, if you consider a car thats manufactered here a domestic, alot of Honda's are a domestic, so are Toyota's, some BMW's and Subaru's. Sad that the Big Three, export most production out to other countries and the Asian's are bringing their plants here to beat the import tariff's..
Even my beloved SS is a non-national, if your VIN starts with a 2, it's canadian made..

Don't know what you trap, but a stock one should be relatively easy to beat if you can keep yourself in the 12s and you race from a stop. They run 12s on paper, but anyone who's been to the track a few times knows that the bone-stock ones don't typically make it out of the 13s. If that temp is right, you probably had a very poor DA, which means that you should improve a couple or a few tenths on that in good conditions. Factory Cobras usually are not that quick.

Good kill! Just watch for the pulley swap though. It might turn ugly then. I can't wait to catch one now that I have a pretty decent mod list but I don't see many around here which is surprising.

It's too hard to know if that makes a difference, though. My vette's only been to the track once, and the first run down only turned out a 13.8, which is a far cry from what it's capable of. I ended up running a 13.2 that night. I should've run a 13.1, but I boned up the launch on the last run of the night. Oh well.
The point is, when I race some guy with a low 14 second car and I screw up and only beat him by a car up to 110 he can't say that he has a mid 13 second car. Just because my car should run low 13s (maybe high 12s one day) doesn't mean that I'll actually do it when I race you on the street. So, try not to base how your car compares against a cobra on a race with another similar running car.
Regardless, based on your listed ET, I think you'll be just fine if you ever do run them. At worst it's a driver's race. At best, your car is marginally stronger.Last edited by Chris Arnold; 08-30-2007 at 06:10 PM.

Sounds like it'll be a beast when you get done with it.
