mobil one synthtic or royal purple. Always use a mobil one filter they are hands down the best.

Lmao at this thread. I used to use Redline 10w30 for years but then started with the German Castrol cause it was availible locally. Now that's discontinued and I'm undecided what I'll use next. Either Mobil 1 Ow40 or PP.

Don't feel bad Sarge gave it to me good in another post. He knows his shit 4 sure. Im not a PP fan at all though. You change your oil at 3k even with syn you will be fine no matter what brand you decide to go with.

I've had a mechanic tell me not to use penzoil as well. I'm no mechanic so I just listened to the guy. Last oil I used was some mobil high mileage if I remember right. I hope this stuff is ok, supposed to be for 5,000 miles i think. I won't wait that long though.

Sarge, you know anything about Schaeffers oil? I'm running 5w-30 on that and a kn o/f. How's that hold up against the competition?

No, that's a Dick Harrell Camaro stock with 630hp C5R race engine. you can get that hood from vfnfiberglass.com. I've been considering putting it on my SS but I can't break myself to do it.

Intersted in Sarges opinion on my oil practices...
I use conventional oil, quaker state because my bro uses penzoil and my dad uses valvo. This way we can tell them apart. Anyways I change it every 2000 miles on the dot myself. And I top it off every 1000 miles. I was wondering what your opinion is on different weights for different outside temperatures?
I run 5w 30 in winter when it is like -20 to 32F out. 10w 30 in Fall/Spring when it is like 40F-60F and 10w 40 in Summer when it gets up to 70 - 105F. Does it really help the enging that much that I do this? I know it says on most manuals 5w 30 only. But I changed 5w 30 once when it was like 87 out, holy shit it was like water.

I like the fact that most of the people I deal with at work (mechanic) go by the change oil soon light. My last car was a 2000 grand am gt I had it for about 6.5 years and the stupid light came on 5 times!!! WTF! car had 63 k on it when I got rid of it! I have done leaky intakes on the gm 3.1, and 3.4's one lady had 50k on her motor and you would have sworn it had 200k on it, it was so nasty. So anyway yeah the change oil soon light is in my opinion not something to go by!!!!!!!!
