installing FRONT lowerings springs and struts
i have a prokit and revalved bilsteins that i want to install and i have a question about the rear spring removal.
i have already figued out the front and im stuck on the "easy" part...
on ls1howto.com it says that when i lift up the car by the frame the rear end will just drop and the springs will be loose.
i tried removing the springs while the rearend was dropped with the car sitting on jackstands but they didnt come out??
what is the proper way of removing the rear springs?
thanks for any helpLast edited by adham; 08-03-2007 at 01:03 PM.

I had my shocks, LCA's, and panhard unbolted and the rear can them drop low enough for the springs to just fall out.

i used a pry bar and just put enough pressure on them so they came out. slapping the pro-kit in there was a lot easier! i know if i ever put the stock springs back in, i'll have to do some unbolting to get them back in there.

the prokit for our cars is supposed to be model number: 3870.140 right?
thats what it says on the box but on the springs it says 3870.001(front) and 3870.002(rear)
are these the correct springs?
i bought them new off of ebay...

dont need to unbolt anything.just did my last night....lift the rear by the pumpkin..with a piece of wood on your jack of course...lift it high enoiugh to get jack stands underneith both sides of the car just in front of your rear tires.....in front of..hum..whats that piece called....lower control arm i belive? right in front of it put stands on both sides....then let your jack down completely ......take your wheels off and u should be able to wiggle your springs with a lil force...get a screwdriver and put it under the spring...lift it enough to put it on top of the pearch that the spring sits in the middle of....then just push it off to the side...your done..its out...take the rubber piece thats on top of that spring..put it on your new spring and put it back in likle the old one came out..this should be even easier as its prolly an inch or so shorter....enjoy!!!!

installing FRONT lowerings springs and struts
does anyone know how i can get the stock springs off the front struts?
its rusted and falling apart and i need the rubber top part to put on the new shocks....
i took them to many shops and they said they it was too rusted for them to do anything.
has anyone experienced this?
i really dont want to spend $85 a piece to buy new top rubber mounts or whatever theyre called.
thanksLast edited by adham; 08-03-2007 at 01:04 PM.

wd40 and an impact wrench?? i don't know, mine weren't rusted on. if you can't get it apart, you could always to go ebay and buy a used set of front strut's with the strut mounts on them... it'd probably be about $60 or so. just probably check and make sure they're not rusted like yours.
