let me say it straight its more consistent if its a A4 but for fun factor M6 all day . if you go to most of the races M6 s are really preparring for the race casue they know they have to be dead on on there shifts. and when they are they can win wicked. but al;ll the time at the races most of them complain ( including me that the A4 have somewhat of a advantage over them). explessial if there stalled. when a M6 beats a A4 witha drivers race there always releved and more satisfied casue they know that they beat the car AND THE DRIVER. but when its racing "who cares"

ok how about this one since this thread wont die....
1.stalls eat power.
2.alot of auto owners have no idea how important it is to match a cam with gears and the stall, thus they get eaten alive by a similar m6.
3. i suppose you can go with the auto being more consistent but a manual has the potential to best its previous time, the work is up to you.
4. between the two transmissions, the auto is weak, costs way more money to rebuild to transfer the power an otherwise stock 6 speed does. most (for breakneckspeed) autos running low 11s or better utilize at the very least a healthier 4l80e out of gm trucks. the faster autos go, the more complicated the transmissions get, varying greatly from the stock unit.
6. the coveted "roll" race...doesnt really mean anything come track day, so all you m6 guys better ante up unless you want to start crying. a 4000 stall with 373s and a cam is no joke.
having said that, i drive a manual out of personal preference. i make no excuses, i have never been beaten by a comparable f body that was an auto. i got sprayed on. i am basically stock. i have beaten a 2000 vette that was an automatic. explain that one, because i cant....

09 EclipseGT 75 Chevy 4x4- 2001 Trans-Am 13 F-XT
I have also beat auto C5 vettes. Most A4 guys around town don't even want to race me. They all say you have an advantage with a manual and have 2 more gears so it's not fair. Most are a bunch of cry babies. I would build an auto if was going to make a drag race car though.

hm... Excuses should be made after one races...no before... LOL... I have an auto...and the only thing I've wanted more then beating my friends Supra...is to run a Manual F-Body... to see what the difrence is... if I loose...then I'll blame my shitty tires...but not the Trans...

White- 1999 Camaro LS1
i myself have an a4, and yes i too would trade it for an m6. however, when i bought the car i had i specialty tranny shop custom build my 4L60E with all billet parts, new aftermarket bands, shell and everything else in there. i also had them put on a medium setting manual valve body shift kit from fairbanks. she shifts hard and quick, plus if i want to manually shift it like a stick i can do that too, just dont have a clutch. the guy told me i wont break it and he garanteed it for 2 years or 50000 miles. either m6 or a4, they are both fun and are still faster then the new mustangs and cost less.
