Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Impressive.
Doesn't surprise me that it would be 'taken' care of fairly easy.
Making power with those blown mod motors is so fucking easy.

They love boost. I plan on gettin a 03-04 cobra one day if I dont get a c5z06. With the cobras a pulley, tune, exhaust and cold air, I can make 450 + rwhp. My driving would be an issue more then that car making power lol I dont even wanna know the trouble I can get in with a 600 horse super snake street car lol

I'm not sure you read the post right Bran, read it again bro. He was saying that everyone is knocking the engine in the gt500 and that its a good engine in a heavy chassis. Saying that the chassis makes the ls7 look better then it is, but not taking away from it. Putting the 5.4 gt500 motor in the same EQUAL chassis as the ls7 engine they would fare similar times. Not that the GT500 is attempting to compete with the z06. The only thing the 2 have in common is 500 horses. But if you really wanna believe that 4,000 lb 4 seater is trying to compete with a barely 3,000lb aluminum framed carbon fiber fendered 2 seater sports car, I guess theres no convincing you otherwise.

That is why they are givin it more power to compete w/ the Z06. Why wouldn't they want to run with a Z06. Shelby has a reputation to keep!
I love to see lesser expensive cars, or cars not in the same catagory tromp on each other! Muscle Cars and Sports Cars are constantly at war!

I think they jus wanna make a ultra high horsepower street sweeper. A mustang will never get corvette handling. It will get very good handling but you can only get so far with the platform. It'll be a badass car, but I wouldnt wanna compete for lap times with a z06 with it. Then again, lets jus see what numbers the fuggin thing runs. I think that Ford more or less is upping the bar as high as they can because they wanna have something that wont allow all the attention get drawn over to the incoming camaro/challenger. Plus the whole Shelby thing has been such a success they wanna make as much money as they can off of his name and the performance craze. SVT died last year when it was under the command of Hau Thai Tang and now that they sent his ass to south america they are upping up the horses.

Put it this way, if the automakers wanna keep making cars with more and more horses, I'm definitely not discouraging it. It'll eventually bring the prices down and we will be able to buy cars that already have 400 plus horses and not have to spend thousands to modify them to make that kind of power. Not to mention it'll make for a lot of great used car buys in the future. I love that. I love the idea of lots of tire frying high horse american cars.

The supercharged DOHC 5.4L engine Ford is using to produce 500HP is the size of a small house, and weighs more than most Mack trucks do. The LS7 on the other hand is comparable in both size and weight to many currently produced 6 cylinder engines. In the end, you need a bigger chassis just to fit the Ford engine. Then you have the several hundered pound weight penalty that the Ford engine incurs. Advantage --> LS7, by a longshot!

Gross exaggerations anyone? 4valve heads use 2 camshafts per head, making for a big top end for sure. But its not quite as heavy as you are making it seem. The ls7 is NOT comparable in size of any 6 cyl production car engine. Maybe in weight, if you are talking about a 6 cyl with an iron block and heads. The comparison was also referring to the 2 engines being in the exact same chassis. So the size of the chassis itself is moot. Ill agree that the ls7 is probably 100 lbs lighter though.

I've been a Lincoln/Mercury tech for over a decade and have done several Navigator engines. Those engines are huge and weigh a ton even without the supercharger. In fact, they weigh MORE than complete iron headed BBC or BBF. Add in the weight of a supercharger... And the weight difference is over 200lbs BTW

Believe me I know they are heavy. I prefer a pushrod engine for the reasons you stated. Heck what do you think resides in my cars? BUT I do think that the dohc modular engines when properly done are a gem of an engine. I love the gt500 even though everyone seems to hate it with a relentless passion.
