I am 5 '9 and weigh 170. I could bench 315 , 1 rep with no bench shirt. It helped that I worked out with a few guys , the smallest being 240 lbs that were power lifters. This was 7 years ago, I have worked out off and on for the last few years. I am going on Vacation in a couple of months so I started working out again regularly. I now struggle with 225 , 1 time. It sucks getting old!

My oldest brother was in lifting while he went to SFA University. He set a Texas and Oklahoma record in '97 for bench/squat/deadlift for his weight class. He was about 5'9 205 ish all muscle. Maxed at 440 on bench. 780 on squat or dead lift...i cant remeber which one. For myself I'd prolly max at about 250 or so...
PS - if you go to www.huskerpower.com it has a calculator for max.. for example you do 17 reps of 185 lbs. it will give u a max....my coach in high school used to do it that way...its not exactley correct but pretty close..its alot safer to max that way without a spotter...

I have been benching about 70 pounds. LOL I am trying to recover from spine surgery. I worked my way up from 40 pounds so I am happy! Things could always be worse.
