So basically you're spending $3,000 on crappy eBay parts, messing with Alchohol injection which is pointless unless you're at the track, changing the head studs (I'm assuming you mean pulling the head then, expensive to do and you're asking for problems) and buying a cheap fuel pump which will probably last a couple months. And you still end up with an ass ugly and horrible sounding economy car.
Alcohol injection is pointless unless you're at the track? News to me....considering I've been running it for 6+ months now in the street....I suggest researching what it does, and how it works before commenting on Alky any further.

And by assuming you have to pull the head you....well let's just say you met the standards for that old cliche about assuming. You can upgrade headstuds in the evo without pulling the head, it's done often, I have 40k miles on my car done that way.

As far as the Evo being ugly and horrible sounding....well your opinion is just that, an opinion, a very subjective one at that....

"Mitsubishi" and "reliable" should never be used in the same sentence. And you honestly think the stock transmission and clutch are going to last when you're making high 11 second passes with high RPM clutch drops?? Wow, the ignorance...
Honestly when I was like you and thought great launches were rev'ing the motor up and side stepping the clutch....yup I broke a first gear, having learned my lesson, which was the drivers fault and not the cars...I've probably logged 100+ launches at 6500 rpm (yup that high) without a single problem.

Show us the torque curve before the turbo spools in the low end. Its probably around 150ft/lbs or torque, or something pathetic like that. Its a damn 2.0 4 cylinder, you're not fooling anyone into believing that is some kind of torque monster
This comment is completely irrelevant. Show me what your power band looks like at 8000rpm, it's non existant because you're not taking your car that high....but I run mine up that far daily....my cruising RPM is 3300rpm, so what do I care about anything below that, on top of that when I drag race my RPM's never fall below 5000rpm, which is right around my peak torque. You think you can read dyno sheets and talk all sorts of smack about area under the curve? I got another nickle phrase for you, usable power band.

At any rate here is my dyno sheet....it's an overlay of my pump gas pull that day compared to my methanol pull

I've ridden in Evos that were in the 12's, and they are anything but "extremely driveable". You have to take off at a relatively high RPM to avoid stalling the engine, there's absolutely no power to be had until the turbo spools, and the turbo lag is very apparent. Evo driver's definition of "driveable" is very different from a normal people's definition, apparently.
If you feel turbo lag you're either in the wrong gear or you didnt launch hard enough, honestly I love having a larger turbo, saves me gas because I can keep it from boosting....to each their own.

I'm honestly about sick of taking you to school though Wes. You're a big time messageboard warrior and not much else. I'm a real racer with respect for fast and quick.

I seriously can't belive that you've bothered to respond after getting owned. Why do you bother?? You're not going to convince anyone of how great your car is, most of us don't like 4 banger imports.

Good for you. Is isn't practical for most daily drivers though. The system itself is expensive, you have to install the entire system, run the lines, find a place to mount the tanks, and then of course you need to buy special alcohol and keep them filled. And then if the system shuts off when you're under boost, you can blow your motor. I like to put gas in my car and go, without having to worry about some secondary alcohol injection system that needs to be in perfect working order in order to make more power. If you need that system to make the any reasonable amount of power on the street, well thats pathetic. You can run a 500WHP LS1 or Cobra with nothing but 93 octane.

And by assuming you have to pull the head you....well let's just say you met the standards for that old cliche about assuming. You can upgrade headstuds in the evo without pulling the head, it's done often, I have 40k miles on my car done that way.
And pulling apart the head studs on a stock car is smart. Everything is torqued precisely to spec at the factory considering the amount of pressure that the head gasket is under. And here's you with a ratchet in your garage taking it apart. Genius.

As far as the Evo being ugly and horrible sounding....well your opinion is just that, an opinion, a very subjective one at that....
I think 90% of people in general will agree that the Evo is ugly as sin and sounds like a weedwacker. I've seen people cringe when an Evo goes by under throttle. Its a 4 banger, its going to sounds like feces regardless.

Honestly when I was like you and thought great launches were rev'ing the motor up and side stepping the clutch....yup I broke a first gear, having learned my lesson, which was the drivers fault and not the cars...I've probably logged 100+ launches at 6500 rpm (yup that high) without a single problem.
So when Mitsubishi advertises the car as being able to go 0-60 in 4.7 seconds or whatever, which requires a high RPM clutch drop, and then you the owner try it yourself and the trans blows up, thats entirely driver error?? I don't think so. The trans is the size of a grapefruit, its not designed to take the kind of abuse from hard launches or slamming gears, period. Its designed for "spirited driving", not drag racing.

I knew the ricer crap was coming. Wow, you can rev to 8,000RPM. You want a cookie?? If I had to drive around at 3300RPM to avoid having my car fall on its face, I would sell that piece of shit and buy a car with a real motor. I can take off at idle in my LS1 and it still pulls hard. I can cruise in 6th gear at 1500RPM like its nothing. Its called low end power and torque, you were just bragging about how much torque your car makes, too bad none of it is useable. And yet with only a heads and cam package, I can make more power than you, have it be more driveable, have much, much better powerband, not have to run any special alch injection, and probably still get better gas mileage. Not to mention it would sounds great.

At any rate here is my dyno sheet....it's an overlay of my pump gas pull that day compared to my methanol pull

Wow, 100HP at 4,000RPM. Haha what a joke

If you feel turbo lag you're either in the wrong gear or you didnt launch hard enough, honestly I love having a larger turbo, saves me gas because I can keep it from boosting....to each their own.
If you drag race stoplight to stoplight, I guess you wouldn't have much lag. But most people daily drive their cars, and there is no power to be had below where the turbo kicks in. And even if you're in the powerband and you pumch the gas, you still have to wait for the turbo to spool before the power comes on. Not my idea of a good powerband or good engine at all.

I'm honestly about sick of taking you to school though Wes. You're a big time messageboard warrior and not much else.
Yea, you took me to school all right. You proved that you need alchohol injection to make any serious power, you proved that your car is a complete dog below boost, and you proved that your powerband sucks. I already knew Evos sounded like shit, so you didn't school me on that. Thanks for the education though.

    I'm a real racer
Where have I heard this before?? Ahh yes, the F&F!! How predictable!!

Comeone Wes, people have been using alcohol injection for almost a decade, especially in the GN world. They are quite reliable and many many people use them now. Kits are under $500 and an amateur in less than 2 hours can do it.

Also, head studs can be done with the head on the car using the 1x1 method and it works flawless, has for years.

There was a race a while back with a Z06 blown with meth injection running some serious boost. Great vid, I think I saw it here.
