yea im leaning towards the camaro now. i can get a nice one with somewhat low miles(around 50k) for about $10k and under. i also like the look better...(wider tires, and the look of huge dual exhaust tips out the back) i already got a set of LS6 heads free so its definately getting either exhaust or just dual electric cut-outs to start with.

02-01-2007, 12:25 PM #24now u see my predicament. lol I LOVE camaro's cuz its a sweet car, and i love the history behind the name. GTO has history too, but i dont think this GTO counts towards it's history. GM just Slapped the name on an australian car. its still got an LS1 in it thoi would say camaro just because i love them and have one, but an '04 GTO with 15k for $16,000 is a fucking awesome deal!!!!

I would go with the fbody too. cause IMO all of Pontiacs cars, minus the TA, look like a grand am. they all have that same resemblance. get the fbody. i'm partial to camaros, but if you get a ws6, those things are sexy.
i just don't like how the dash resembles the grandam with the circle vents.

I read a few different boards and it's common knowledge that the majority of the car boards don't really care for the newer GTO's looks. What I don't understand is how it gets so much damn attention on the road. I have a yellow 04 so being yellow it's gonna catch peoples eye but I constantly have people at gas stations, grocery stores, and even rolling their windows down at traffic lights to ask me about the car or give compliments. Get remarks from men and women. I honestly feel it was a marketing problem by GM as to why this car didn't sell better. I'm sure there are people that absolutely just hate it but in my experience most of the general public love the car. I've given people a ride in it and once they get in and see the interior they're blown away with how nice it is. Definitely a step above you usual GM interior.

Camaro if your gonna mod it all to hell and terrorize your town.
GTO if you want a comfortable cruiser that will hold it's own in a street fight.
Both have probably bottomed out in declining value.

lol I agree with Sarge about the ride .. The GTO is just a better car than a f-body... But noone ever says anything to me about the GOAT.. I used to get all sorts of compliments on the T/A....maybe it is a color thing ....

I think this is an open and shut case.
If it was an 05 GTO for that price, YES. But its an 04, with a 50hp deficit. So get the camaro...
I dont like the GTO's look at all, so I am biased. I like power and comfort though...so I have to have one more thing to tip me over. BUT.
Power + Comfort < Price + Looks
You can get power and comfort from the camaro through the aftermarket. After 3 months, those car payments for the GTO arent going to make the GTO prettier, thats for sure.99 T/A M6

personally i love both cars, i think the GTO looks good, and has great interior. the camaro looks sexy, but has the traditional GM interior (which is ok, but i've had 3 cars with the same interior.)
im going to mod the hell out of either one so that dont matter much.
the price on the camaro is only like $30 more a month on payments than i already have, and the GTO is $50 more a month if i extend my payments another year.
im guessing the insurance increase will be the same for the camaro or the GTO.
right now im going with the camaro, until i have reason to look at the GTO further.

Funny you bring up payments.
My gfriend's interested in buying a new mustang. One choice is to run a term for 72 months and another for 60 months. There is only a $25 difference between the two cars, but one has a V6. I told her, a moderate-high payment that CAN be done, sounds like a "no problem" scenario at first, but in a year or so, when the choice has been made, you had better had gotten the V8, otherwise that "moderate" payment is now a burden.
Can you imagine paying $525 a month for 72 months? In 60 months I will be PISSED I am paying that much for a 5 year old car. Of course, she is a lil upside down from the get-go, but bottom line, get what you are LEAST likely to regret. You said youre gonna modify either one, so since we are talking about an 04 GTO, the choice is quite clear.

Hmm, then again, coming from antoher thread, I wonder if the GTO could be considered an investment. I am pretty sure it would hold its value better than the f-body, but I wonder how much more considering its an 04.

If you want a 350hp (04) or 400hp (05/06) with comfort and the sleeper effect, go GTO. Shop around - there are good deals on them now. Go test drive some. I know you'll want one then.
