Bs o2 Sensors
I was under the car doing a oil change and cleaning and notice my o2 sensors looked burned. Will this pull a SES? I want to get headers should I wait to change them or just change them now? Any one know where I can get some?

I'd get the code read to see what the SES is about first. Are you talking about just the rear 02's? When you get headers are you going to keep the cats?

The sensors will turn brown sometimes. Its just the heat getting to them. What do you mean by burnt though?

Yes, if you do LT's and eliminate the cats you'll need to have the codes turned off or get 02 sims to keep the light off.
Stop by some place like auto zone and have them read the code(s), might have nothing to do with the 02's and just a coincidence.

Don't worry about the descriptions, just get and post the codes.

???
You were under the car changing oil and pulled your 02 sensors from the exhaust system? Are you talking about the wire in leads? Just curious why you would pull the sensors with no SES or Codes.

You can still see what code was tripped. The scanner will tell you that.

O ok. Are there signs that they are bad that i can look for. I mean i know "the car wont start" could be alot of things... but anything that i should look out for.

So the car will not start?
You can not tell that the O2's are bad by looking at them.

Car is running fine.
Here is the story in full.
I was doing an oil change. while under the car look around at the headers and the under body notice that the o2 sensores look a little burnt. Whipe them down with a really damped rag and nothing came off. Turn the car on in the morning and the SES was on the whole was to work. I just asked about the 02 becuase wanted to see how much to replace and what not. all i did was wipe them down.

New o2 sensors will run you about 85.00 each, from a parts store, not GM, and the new ones will also look burnt. It is probably from the heating element

I'm a little on the confused side myself but I'll give it a shot. My understanding is you unscrewed the sensor from the header and wiped it off, is that right? My guess would be that was a self inflicted ses light if that's the case and I would wait until it comes back on before worrying about it.

I did not unscrew them just wiped them still on the header and cat.
