Air leaks, rattles and things that go bump in the night
I just go my TA last week and would like to start tracking down as many of the squeaks and rattles and air leaks as I can. What I have noticed so far is the passenger side door widow leak, driver side door rattle and rear hatch has a lot of air noise coming through it. I'm hoping ya'll will post up some of the things you have found and what, if anything, you did to correct the situation. It would be cool if the mods could make this a sticky..

Lets see, air leaks around the widows, A little is normal. As for the hatch check to makesure it closes all the way, next check the weather stripping for damage.

How many miles does it have on it? was it a daily driver?

60K miles. I understand the hatch should be pretty easy to figure out. The weather stripping is fine but I guess it could have shurnk up a bit over time. The rattle in the door may be a bit more difficult to figure out, I just thought I'd try to get a heads up before I tear into it.

silence
i can't tell if yours is a vert or not. verts are much more noisy for obvious reasons. i did the interior foil mod. it made a diff even on a vert. i added only one layer, should have done two or more. here's a couple of pics to give you and idea.
keep the weatherstripping lubed always. it keeps it from shrinking, blah...blah...
adjust your door latch, it might bee rattling there. with the door shut, push it in with your hip and you'll see if you can make it tighter or not.
the windows can bee adjusted in all directions. look from inside and out for any spaces then set aside an afternoon for adjusting.
most of the road noise comes from the seals around the doors. i looking for a way to add or modify the seals there. maybe some self adhesive foam under the door just above the sil, yeah that might do it.Last edited by FERNANDO; 11-04-2006 at 12:19 PM.
