oil ????? synthetic???
Hey guys, we just picked up a 98 TA And I was wondering what oil you guys use, I know in my vette, with the ls1 motor, requires synthetic, but in the TA manual it doest mention to use synthetic, I thought that was kind of strange since the vette needs it I would have thought the same for TA, here's a little eye candy for ya, thanks Ozzie

My 01 TA did not come with Mobil 1. Your Vette does not require it but it's not a bad idea. I use Redline 10W30.

Red- 99 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28
i used to run quaker state 10w-30 in my maro. starting to hear ticking on start up (oil was breaking down too fast) went to a quaker state 10w-30 synthetic blend. went longer till the ticking on start up (still breaking down) and it was just starting to get a fil, of metal on the drain plug. so i stepped up to mobil 1 full synthetic. 40 bucks an oil change now, but no more ticking, and no more metal film on the drain plug. and still comes out pretty clean after changed

I've been reading a lot of good things about German Castrol Synthetic 0W-30... only trick is it's tough to find and you have to read the back of the bottle to be sure it's German made, because the USA formulas don't work nearly as well.

IT DOES NOT REQUIRE SYNTHETIC OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It recommends Mobil1. Called a marketing agreement.
Or a pimping agreement. Your warranty requires you to utilize API certified oils within viscosity recommended. That would include WalMart SuperTech oils.
GM does not require any motor it makes to utilize synthetic oil.

Penzoil 5w-30 Platinum, syntetic oil, change every 5k.. if you race it almost every day, I'd do every 3-4K miles oil change.

I noticed the late model Firehawks recommend Mobile 1. I use Mobile 1 10W-30 . Change the filter every time the engine oil light comes on and oil ever other time, total about 7k miles between oil changes, according to independent tests Mobile 1 should be good for about 10K miles between changes. The filter I use is Purolator Pure One.
