How fast will my 2001 SS go ?

well i jus got my 00 ss last week.. granted its pushin 402 rwhp but i had it past what the speedo would read in 5th and i was still pullin dandy ass hard.. so id really like to now what top of 6th is like

B4C is it governed as well. Anyone know for a fact. I don't know for a fact but been told they go past 160mph.

An M6 car hits top speed in 5th gear, NOT 6th. It will slow in 6th because of the loss of torque.

The factory computer setting allows the car to go only as fast as it's tire rating allows by law. SS Camaros are set around 163 to 165mph. It can be disabled by computer programmer.

Without computer governing, the Camaro SS will likely run 175 or 180 under the right conditions.

governed at 162...period..or 163 i can't remember....and as stated before it will stop gaining at low 170's becuase of drag. but if your pushing more it will go more..but those are for stock ss/z28/ws6/ta/form/

i wasnt really paying attention to the tach until i was slowing down, but i guess i was way off on the numbers. sorry for the miss-information.

The average high speeds I hear of are 155-165, then I heard if you take the governor off you can hit 170 but that's about it. by the way, I hear the 6spds hit 150 in 5th and I guess 6th is all in your imagination hahaha

6th doesn't have enough torque and is too tall to go anywhere..so what you get in 5th is pretty much all(on a stock f-body) you'll start to slow down if you throw it into 6th

that's strange because if I'm right the higher the rpm the more hp being made by the engine right? well when my car is going say 70mph then I push the gas in 6th it pulls pretty good and that's with the rpms pretty low, so if the rpms are say 4-5000rpms I don't understand it going slower at all...

one of these days I'll find the right place and find out and let you know(talking about a race track or run way)

not talking about 70 mlies a hour..but try it and you'll see i'm right, and no at a certian point engines stop making "more power" torque curve...just like the ls7 i believe in testing at gm they got it to 8000 rpm..but it wasn't making shit.

1 ------ 49 ------ 41mph
2 ------ 74 ------ 62
3 ------ 101 ----- 84
4 ------ 131 ----- 109
5 ------ 177 ----- 148
6 ------ 263 ----- 219
now maybe you'll notice how people arent saying 263mph is there top speed. with a 6th gear ratio of .5 plus drag a STOCK f-body doesnt have enough to keep pulling. what you get in 5th gear is the fastest you can go. now you know..i'm not trying to be a dick or anything..but i just want you to understand how engines and gearing works..alot of people think that hey have a whole other gear to play with after 150-160ish.

lol yea well i mean the top speed is really set by the rear end ratios and trans ratio then the engine, but you could get closer to but you'll need some serious numbers to get it anywhere near 200.

the fastest i've herd was from maybe mr.lous or someone with a black t/a modded heavily going 189 it was a highway race thingy. but yea it would be nice to get a built t56 or something that moved 6th to 1 or higher so it had a lil more pull. screw gas milage.

I have 3:42's in my A4 Z28. I've had it to 145+ with the T tops off. Will never do that again, the inside of the car was like a blender, everything was being sucked out the top. Had more in it, and this was when car was pretty much stock. The other night I hit, 140ish, but bounced off the rev limiter since my tc is acting up.

lol i remember when my last day of high school...i rolled down the windows and opened the moon roof on my grand am gt..and hit around 105 ...my year book and abunch of my shit went flying out..oh well its funny now how stupid i am.
