Exhaust hitting floorboard???
I just got a custom Y pipe built for my car and it is hitting under the driver side when I take off in 1st gear or get on it. What can I put between pipe and the car to make it not rattle. I wedged a shop rag in there for now, but I am looking for something heat resistant to put there. I was thinking about a high heat rubber spacer or something like that. I already tried heating it up and bending it down some. That didn't work.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can use?

Correct clearance is the answer...might be able to cut an old valve spring and weld it to the pipe if there's enough room.

Heat it up cherry red all the way around and have a helper take a big pry bar and bend it down-keeping the flame on it at all times. It has to be hot all the way around in order to bend enough.

i would take it back to the exhaust shop and tell them that there isnt enough clearance and they can bend it for you.

I have a pacesetter Y and had that problem at one time. First I used a piece of heater hose and that worked for a while but it falls out eventually and you have to cut another piece to put in there. I finally got under there and loosened the entire exhaust from the headers back to the muffler and by twisting and moving stuff around I got everything to where it doesn't hit anymore. I would try to get under there and adjust it around until you find the spot it likes. The angle of the piece going over the axle makes all the difference. A little move back there will probably fix your problem.
