Being the third wheel(Mini rant)

Over the last couple months a couple boys had invited me out to hang( two different times and two different guys) only to have also invited a chick out to hang also(without telling me in advance) In those two ocassions since we had not seen each other in a while i thought we was going to just catch up and enjoy ourselves and I ended up being the third wheel...........they didn't ignore me but of course they deffered to the girl the whole night.

What is your thoughts on this? Has this happened to you? How did you handle it?

4th wheel, and sounds like you got your panties in a bunch. Even I wouldn't complain about something like that and I'm a woman. Just saying

I get where he's coming from......guys are night and day different depending on if there's a girl present. The conversation generally kinda sucks when women are present. Me and all my buddies have been married awhile but there's still a ton of shit we say around each other we would never say in front of the wives. I suspect that if the wives did ever hear some of the shit we said we'd all be in counseling.

I wouldn't be pissed about it but I wouldn't let them live it down either.

I guess I can see that. But at the same time, it looks like these guys weren't looking for a stag party type time to begin with

Women are hard to understand because they all have crazy moments. And crazy is anything but predictable. Moments when you think to yourself "is this chick seriously acting like this right now" or "upset about this". Usually something that is so insignificant you can't understand how this became an issue.

I agree with Orion that things are different when girls are around vs not. And sometimes a little bit too much of that man talk slips out when you are with friends and then you look over at your girl and she is giving you the "you better control yourself eyes". I have friends where we just build off of one another when we hang out. Random girls seem to love it....girlfriends/wives not so much.

I had a friend two years ago show up to deer camp with his girlfriend of 6 months. There is a unwritten rule that this is not allowed at our deer camp. He said "I wouldn't have been able to come if I didn't bring her". I said "you should have stayed the F$%^ home". His dad was right behind me "yeah, what the hell were you thinking". She isn't going to enjoy herself after day 1. Now I hunt with my wife from time to time and my sister. I shoot with her and her friends. But deer camp is not one of those times.

As to the OP, I don't think it was a big deal that they brought girls. If it happens all the time everytime then maybe start to question why or bring your own girl but just one time isn't really anything to complain about.

that's funny.....I was in that situation this past season almost. I was taking my brothers step son who's a good kid. His wife to be gave him shit all season about going hunting. One weekend he was down and just casually mentioned he might bring her the following weekend. It was like someone kicked the door open on the hen house

All the guys immediately started jumping his shit

You just don't do that. I talked some sense into him and pointed out that if he thought her coming to watch 5-6 drunk rednecks making ass' out of themselves would be something that would make her more likely to let him come down or less likely. It finally sank in.
My wife comes down a couple of times here and there....usually to bring food or more supplies when I'm on my 9 day hunt. Even then she's not in camp more than about 10 minutes. We visit a minute and I see the kids then they leave. She gets it but that's because we've had that talk.

Actually it was two different guys on two different different occasions..........so i was indeed the third wheel....

Always look for the silver lining, at least you are hanging around with guys who like girls.

I mean it is ok if you don't, but I am just looking at this from my perspective. I don't mind at all if my buds bring along some eye candy. Cuz most my buddies are really ugly and if my wife isn't present I can even talk to them.

Just learn to play the hand your dealt.

Well said I feel you...........I was cool about it..........I didn't trip or show any issue.
