    I had a similar issue years ago after having my radiator replaced. Left the shop and car bogged in fourth. Turned around and went back to the shop and the guys cleaned my MAF.

    A little tip is once you re-oil the K&N air filter, either wrap it in newspaper or a paper bag to soak any residual oil from the filter. Let us know how you make out.

    My advice would be to ditch the K&N and get a paper filter...

    Depending on the air quality where OP is at, that K&N could actually be causing horsepower/torque loss due to it gunking up too quickly (here in AZ, the K&N had a negative overall effect on my car's performance). It's way more hassle than it's worth, in my opinion.

    THIS...I had to replace a MAF on my 99 Camaro because of a K&N filter. 100% true story.

    The oil cotton gauze filters also allow more dirt into the engine than a paper or dry media style filter. None of our cars are running that style filter.

    I run k&n filters in all of my cars and have for over 20 years. I have never had an issue with any of them. I do however take extra care and time when it comes time to re-oil them. Too much oil will mess up the maf. Not enough oil and the filter is useless. I always let the filter dry for 24hrs before reinstalling it and def can't drive the car with a wet filter.

    Right on Ron I have used them for years also and currently have a Blackwing in the car now that was installed 3yrs ago and haven't seen any problems. Don't go wild with the oil, only have to hit every other rib and let it soak in evenly. I like the wrapping in paper idea never tried it but sounds logical.

    Thought I would give an update. I ordered a short spark plug socket from ws6 store thinking it would make the number 8 plug easier and it did not. I was not able to get a wrench on it! Best angle I could get on the spark plug was from the top after removing all coils, moving the air tube and using a swivel off the normal spark plug socket. The darn spark plug was just stuck in and I couldn't break it loose. After jacking up my hand, and forearms, I called it quits and reinstalled everything. So 8 new spark plug wires, 7 spark plugs, cleaned the maf and tried to soak up some oil from the K&n.

    Seems to be running fine and seems to have gotten my power back in my car . I absolutely hate that I was defeated by that spark plug though. How do you all get a wrench on that slp short socket? I tried from the top and bottom and it was far too recessed to get a wrench on. I am determined to get that spark plug out and will probably give it another go next week after soaking it in pb blaster or something. Thanks for all the help!

    I always have had good luck getting the back plug from the bottom of the car. Seems like most people do it that way because it's easier.

    Stock manifolds and certain headers - it is easiest from beneath the car. I utilized a spark plug socket and a 1-1/2" extension on my 3/8" ratchet for most of the plugs. No. 8 was really not an issue.

    I have always gotten my #8 plug from the bottom. Not much of an issue with most long tube headers. Def a lil harder with the stock manifolds, but still the best luck i have ever had was from the bottom just above the starter.
