I remember when I first got here in 2010 shopping for a 4th Gen on the classifieds. It was fairly busy. Then it went totally silent, it seemed... and now it seems as if it has recovered somewhat.
I do miss the old front page that had a little animation of the Camaro, the Trans Am, the GTO and the C5, and you clicked the car you wanted to read about/discuss, and it brought you to the appropriate forum... that was one of the coolest features I'd seen in any forum.

I joined the board in 99 I believe it was or early 2000. At the time the site had a lot of assholes on the site and it was tough to ask a tech question without getting flamed over ever little thing. The site did a complete 180 of that when the assholes went to tech. IMO this is the easiest site to ask tech questions on out of any forum I'm a member of....car or else. There's absolutely zero chance of getting flamed for asking a question that's been beat to death because everyone has to start somewhere. Ed has always said and I agree that if you just had people searching all the time there wouldn't be any new posts to read. I would add that methods and education changes over time so an answer to a question in '99 might not still be relevant.

I joined in October of 2010 here and around the same time on Tech. I think I have around 50 posts on Tech and you can see my post count here

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Do a SEARCH bitch!
That make you feel better????
FWIW, I joined tech about 2 years before I came here. Got tired of what I just posted every time I asked a newbie question. It's a much nicer crowd here in spite of a former Mod that couldn't take the pressure...
And, if I didn't post here the traffic would decline by 10% at least...67 Camaro: K-K + 797-z (look it up), 454/Th400/4.10 12-bolt = 6mpg, PS/PDB/PW tilt, tach, gauges...
2005 Corvette LS2/M6 Magnetic Red Metallic (What else would it be?) w/ Cashmere interior
2002 Z28: NBM/Tan, MTI smooth lid, smooth bellows, !AIR, !cats, 1-3/4" QTP SS LT's, 2-1/2" TD's with X-pipe, MagnaFlows dumped at axle, custom welded SFC's, MidWest Chassis body mount adjustable T/A, 3400 stall, 3.23 gears (was 2.73). Tuned: 343rwhp/357rwt (before TD's). Best: 12.559 @ 108+, 1.73 60' @ 3500' DA w/MT ET Street DR's.
Carbon footprint? CLOWN SHOE!

Yeah, I joined Tech when I saw traffic here starting to decline. I think I posted twice. :P

Black- 2000 WS6 6spd Hooker LT
All the newbs in the posts above, lol.
I never joined tech.
I first joined here when I was asking about some SLP LTs. Everybody here firmly and politely steered me away from that brand headers.
We could all tell people to just search, but there's someone asking again on this site about short tubes vs. long tubes, and nobody here told him to search and not bother us. We actually helped, imagine that.
This site, however, is one of the slowest to load compared to others I'm on. Slowest to change pages, also.
People here, tho, entertaining. I like the recent post to Kahana to just "search, bitch!" Always heard that tech posters would not help as much.Last edited by Too Fast; 03-21-2014 at 02:47 AM.
