Procharger Head Unit Question
Does anyone know if the Procharger head unit for the D-1SC is pressurized as far as the top fill bolt hole is concerned?
Due to where my head unit is installed, I have a very difficult time getting the bolt back into the head unit after each oil change I perform on it. I'm thinking of using something other than a bolt to plug the fill hole. Maybe like a freeze plug or something. The bolt size is small - maybe 1/4" - 3/8".
However, if it builds pressure towards the top, I won't go this route because I don't want whatever I use as a substitute to blow out.
The top bolt for the fill plug does not have any type of seal or o-ring on it so I'm thinking it is just there to keep contaminants out of the head unit. All of the oil is on the bottom of the head unit. The fill plug bolt does have the dip stick attached to it, but I do not need the dip stick.

I have never thought the head unit was pressurized, I have never heard the release of pressure when I take the fill bolt out. And I have never ran it without the bolt either. I would think a call to ProCharger would be your easiest troubleshooting step for that. But then they could take your sweet idea.

That's what I'm thinking too. I got the screw back in. I may call them and ask. Heck, I might just try something too. I have the winter to mall it over lol.
Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

I swear when I removed the bolt when hot, oil came out quickly.

The top bolt? Or are you talking about the drain plug bolt?

Interesting. I guess I've never tried changing the oil in it while the head unit was still hot. That would suggest it has some pressure then.
