How to Correctly Apply Polish
Guys, I'd like to polish and wax my Black TA, but I got to be honest I'm concerned about the process of polishing the car.
I have a variable speed polisher and plan on using Meguiars Ultimate Polish Pre-Waxing Glaze.
The paint is in pretty good shape, but figure lets make it look better. Can some one walk me through the process? I've been reading up on polishing and it shoulds like you could really damage the paint if not done correctly, unlike wax....
Thanks in advance guys..

Its a 7" polisher I got from harbor freight, I think its chicago electric. Its variable speed from like 300 to 3500 rpms. I havent oppened it yet because im hesitant to polish the car and mess up the paint

Sounds like it may be a rotary polisher based on it's rpm range. You'd definaetely have to be careful with it if it is a rotary. Honestly I'd buy a good dual action polisher like the Porter Cable 7424 or the Flex Vrg 3401. These are idiot proof. I have both (learned on them) and it's just about impossible to burn the paint with them.

Thanks guys for the advice...i tried watching the video last night on my phone but it was too long to stream using 3G. Im on vacation so ill check it out wednesday when I get home. I think im gonna return my polisher and get one of the ones mentioned earlier in the post. I like how they are nearly idiot proof!! I could use it!

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
A black GM car will require more torque than that polisher will put out. Consider the megs da and their microfiber polishing system

Excellent advise! Always use a D/A and you will be safe. Rotaries are for the pros, believe me. Polishing with a D/A can not do any harm if you use something like Meguiars 205 polishing compound. I do this everyday.
