Smile Humble Hat in Hand Intro

    Hi everyone

I'm new here of corse but am a mod on a large Tattoo site so.... I'm not new to a humble introduction. In 1982 I graduated high school an expecting father. With marraige and babies coming up I sold my 1971 Chevelle (true)SS 454, 4sp, (red/blk) .....(i know i know :0).................
Annnnnyway.... Here I am 31 years later looking for a toy to tinker with when I'm not behind a Tattoo Machine or drawing table....and thinks I may be on to one...thats what brought me HERE.
In about 1983 I briefly owned a 1979(gold edition) Trans Am untill the bank informed me that they actually OWNED it :0). (lol$$$)....and I enjoyed it while I had it.
To cut to the chase ... I have an opportunity to buy what is presented as a 97 WS6 very cheap....which leaves me cash to get a few of its bugs worked out. It has ALL of the tell tale signs(funct. Hood, 6 speed, wheels etc... And has a mod tag under the hood from a known speedshop.
I drove the car and it has a pretty impressive presence .... Needs stuff like t-top/trunk KEY and a few minor dings pounded out.... N paint(clearcoat gone)........
In the end this is and has been an AZ car so NO RUST IN SIGHT.
Bottom line: I need a confirm of "ws6" fr the VIN. If someone "cloned" this car they went through one hell of a lot of trouble and expense doing it.
This will cost me 2500.00 or less to snatch so... If it works out I may just turn in to a "regular" around here.

...I think this site is cool.
    Out.

Welcome! First thing to do is check the decal on the driver's door edge and look for a "WS6" code.

Welcome to the site, Robin. As Jeff suggested, that is a surefire way of finding out whether or not the car is a true WS6. Good luck and hope to see you posting

The RPO sticker is white with black print. It contains a bunch of 3-digit codes. What year is the car again? I know on early 4th-gens, the RPO sticker was in the glove box (that's where the sticker was on my '94 Camaro). You might want to check there if you can't find it on the driver door. The sticker should have the 'WS6' code somewhere on it.

I'll see if I can find a picture of one and post it on here.

Cool... I'm kinda erked at myself cuz I deleted photos of the car itself. Deal was... He was wanting like 6400.00 for it to begin with.... Once I saw it( jumper cables etc...) I'm like " dude..." ... A week later he calls me( down to 4500.00 by then).... Lol...(I went on vacation)... After I get back he calls me with "$3000.00" ...
Anyway... You get the idea... I've scraped out all the photos cause the car's so dirty from sitting(out of date tags.."can't afford 2 vehicle...") that the photos don't matter and I simply decided to just sink my little pocketchange into some new irons(tat machines) or ?
I get a text this morning "$2500.00?" .... N I'm still like "...you'd about have to pay me to take it... " etc...
    I DID keep this one
    By accident actually.
What doe it NEED? : A/C isn't working... Has a CE light on... Oil pressure is about 30idle and 40-45 w light foot on gas(1500r?).....needs hatch and t-tops(nice shape) re-keyed(no key)..... Need a large order of wash/buff burn /wax n detail, ..... Probably a battery...we jumped it, took a short ride and it DID start afterward.
To be really nice it would need new paint... But I'm a primer fan anyway so
The GOOD: the body isn't bad, glass is all good, interior(cloth) is good, elec seats work, tops are exceptional w no leaks, ram air(good), ws6 polished wheels w z rated watertreads(80 percent), all electronics, dash, headlamps etc etc function properly( cept for hatch release)...runs, drives n shifts(6apeed) fine.

Okay, here is what the sticker looks like:

Note the WS6 code. This is an LT1 car and it's on the door panel. I'm not sure when they started putting the sticker on the driver door because I have conflicting information that says '96-'97 F-body cars' RPO stickers were located in the passenger glovebox, while '98+ was located on the driver door. This car is a '96 or '97, and the sticker is on the door.
