I remember maybe 8-9 years ago being at a local city and county vehicle auction (for towaways, etc) and a 74ish 455 TA went for like 400-500$. Not a clean one by any means, but a solid running car. Dont see those anymore, especially for that price. WIsh I had gotten it.

I can remember Dempsey's junk yard in Florida back in 89. They had tons of 69 Camaro's just waiting to be picked or crushed. What a shame. To go back in time....

Why would anyone scrap a 1974 SD-455 4 speed Trans Am ? Yes, it may have been rough but was it rebuildable ? It sounds like a donor car that was used up. I would have saved the frame and Radiator Support just in case someone wanted to rebuild it in the future. I think with those two items you can order aftermarket parts from Year One and rebuild the entire car. Oh Well, like Queen once sang, " Another one bites the dust " : drama:

The car would have been great doaner car full interior and drive train the body was shot but the 500 dollars he got from scrap was a waste he could have tripled his money parting the car out.

It's a crying shame. For 500 dollars REVNORR82 should have bought it. Put that bad boy on Ebay and you have some real dollars. I think, without looking at it and with the SD-455 and Muncie trans and 12 bolt rear you shoud get 4 to 5 thousand. This could have been the lottery for REVNORR82. Make 10 times your investment in 7 days.

Like I said before I can't do anything with the cars if I could have I would have but if I take parts I get fired and we can't buy cars that are in the yard.

That T/A crushed would not even yield 500 dollars in scrap unless they part it out.

If I worked at a junkyard, and that rule was in place, I would be plenty pissed. Like the saying goes: "One man's junk is another man's treasure."
