Without any doubt, that car is worth north of 25K.

if i had the choice between a mint 87 GTA or a mint GN i take the GTA every time.... call me crazy/stupid or what ever but the GN, as fast as it is, does nothing for me.... the mid-late 80s cutlass/monte carlo/regal were so bland and yuk looking to me. and i would kill for an 89 turbo TA which is just as fast as the GN i believe.

Just as fast if not faster then the GN. Both cars out of the box ran right 13s.

The 89 20th Anniversary car is so cool! I gave my Mom the 20th Anniversary car that I had for Mother's Day a few years ago. She had several F-body cars throughout the 80's, and had always talked about having a sporty car again.

Chevette + turbo = slow. GN is a pretty quick ride out of the box.

Ok, how about a GNX? More power, faster than the GN and GTA, more rare, body variations, very limited production.

There is a good article to test the GTA vs a GN. It was close and I cant remember who won.

Yea exactly. Late 80s 6-can that needed a turbo to do mid 13s out of the box. Big Deal. Your posting drag and modded cars to prove your point?! HAHAHAHA ok ok ok now lets post a vid of a turboed 4 cyl doing 10s.
GTA over GN anyday. Put that turbo on the GTA.

The GNX was a totally different animal than the GN, up graded turbo and intercooler, independent rear suspension, fender flares, 16 inch wheels and I'm sure a few more I am forgetting. Only 5xx were made and they were BEASTS on the street and strip.

Your missing the point. These guys are posting "MODDED" GNs to prove their point. Ill still say it...6cl turboed doing mid 13s big deal.

The GTA does have the turbo. We are speaking of the Turbo GTA, not the slow as L98 GTA. That L98 sure as shit was hitting anywhere near 13s. lol Didnt matter 5-speed 305 or A4-350.

I agree with showing the modded ones, my case is purely for the stock ones. I dont care how a "stock" engine makes power as long as it does.

In 1986 and 87 the GN was beating Corvettes, I can only imagine what it would have done toan f-body.

GNX. it would still make me sick to choose over a GTA but GNX is too rare and awesome to pass up....

no doubt the GN was faster than 87-88 fbodies but to some of us it was not all about speed.... an 87 or 88 fbody with the L98 with 330tq was god damn fun up till the time LT1s became numerous. say 1994-1996ish... add that to a GTA and it was just sex. as i said, even if the GTA was slower it was more desireable to me at least.

I remember the Corvette vs Camaro vs Firebird vs Mustang vs GN. The GN was the fastest but the clutch was shot on the Covette test car. I think that was an 86 or 87 issue................

I'd bet a ton of money you weren't seeing 13.anything in any stock optioned vehicle you owned in the 80's.

Part of what makes a muscle car a muscle car is it's ability, desirability, and/or potential to be modified to make it go faster.

In '87, the GN was the fastest US production vehicle.

I put top ten but I really put them behind nearly any muscle car in the 60's or 70's, I think they're a hot commodity because they are fast, different, and can be bought in decent condition at a decent price, so us common folk see them as more desireable. (I'm speaking for the majority here, I know there are some that would disagree) if we all had money to spend (save for Smittro) I think we would opt for the Chevelles, Camaros, etc though. Kind of like how most of us would ditch our F-bodies for a Vette if they were cheaper and more practical for everyday use. (again, I know a few of you would disagree)

I cant deny its fast. It is fast especially out of a time where emmissions was a big deal and cars were slugs lol. Im not denying its fast so lets not do that!
That Was a really good motor without a turbo. Not saying its fast without turbo but just really reliable motor.
Still not a musclecar in my book Great car though for sure especially for 80s

I think its cooler looking than a lot of Muscle cars. I am a fan of almost anything 60s/70s but a GNX makes my blood boil....

    GN...no. GNX....yes.

My dad bought a 87 T Type new from the dealer in Cerritos and it's been a blast since. The T Type is mine now, he has a 9 second GN that is a race car and an 86 GN for the street.

I would put them on the top 10 list but the handling and the brakes are it's downfall. The aftermarket can fix that now but it's not a cheap project.

I can lay down 600 hp to the wheels no sweat with the T Type all day. It's not stock but it's not tons of money. The funny thing is everybody knows what a GN is but few know that the T Type is the same thing in sheeps clothing. if you keep your foot out of it I can get 26 mpg on the highway with it too.

    Just my 2 cents

I like the T-types, they are definitly a sleeper. My friend has a T-Type WE-4, everyone thinks its a GN.
