Rear
Im going to be ordering a new rear within the next few months so I have a few questions.
- Moser 9in or Strange 12 bolt? They are the two i have it narrowed down to. I just can't seem to make my mind up on which one to get. Does anyone have any pros and cons on the two rears?
- Any of you guys with A4s runing 4.11 gears? If so, how is the car on the highway? Are you happy with those gears or not? I am an A4 with mods in sig. I only put around 1500 - 2000 miles on my car a year and its mostly all around town, it sees the drag strip once or twice a month in the spring, summer and fall.
- What differentials are you guys using? Whats the best and whats the worst?
Any info would be great and much appreciated. I have done alot of research online on these and i figured i would ask you guys since some of you have first hand experience.
Thanks

Most will tell you Moser for an M6 and strange for a A4.
I went with a Moser because I wanted the wavetrac. And the ability to change out the center section.
I run 3.70, not too bad on the freeway. 4.11 might be low on a daily driver, but probably ok for you.Black 1999 Blown Convertible A4

If i do go Moser it will definitely have the wavetrac. I do like the idea of being able to change out the center section too.

Subscribed because I'm in the same situation. I'm getting a 9" but not sure on the diff. Leaning towards a locker but very interested in what people have to say about the topic.

I run the Moser 9". Just installed it this year. Has the Detroit Tru-Trac with 4.11s. I'm happy with it.
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

I'm a m6. I would think the 4.10s would be a bit steep with an a4, but I could be wrong.

I went for a ride in Jeff's car when we were at beaver springs and that really changed my mind about getting 3.73s. Don't get me wrong the car definitly pulls hard but I think I will be happier with the 4.11. Even Jeff said if he were to do it again he would go with a 4.11.

Well i ordered a Strange S60 with Strange S-Trac clutchless differential, and 4.10s. I could not beat the deal i got. It ships from Strange December 2nd, can't wait to get it in the car.

Badass, Chris! I saw you went with the 4.10s. I'm interested to see how you like them.

Really looking forward to lining our cars up again next year at the tree. Good thing your car looks great from the back as that is what I will be seeing once the light goes green!

I think I will like the 4.10, I'm not really concerned about the gas mileage since the car is mostly driven around town.
Jeff, I can't wait to feel the car off the line with the new rear. Going to be a big difference going from 3.23 to 4.10. Maybe i can get the wheels off the ground!

9" is the popular choice but that S60 is indestructable. All three are pricy but unless you are going to race your car with slicks the 9" would be the way to go because you can change the center section anytime you want in less then an hour with hand tools and jack stands. The 12" is ok but if you are going that route you may as well go with the S60 and know that you will never, ever blow your rear.
