Car Cover

Does anyone have/use one like this or know anything about it. Ive heard some car covers can actually do harm because they do not allow the paint to breath. I store my car in a garage and have a cover for it thats all ripped up. Im looking into getting this one but would like to know if it would be alright to use this one while the car is indoors. Any help is appreciated thanks.

And to answer your question, I don't use a car cover personally, but my mom uses one on her 2010 SS. It is straight from GM and she has had no problems with it at all. I don't see using a cover as a problem.

I have a weather shield cover fits good kinda made of a tent material breaths pretty good to.

I have the factory SS car cover that came with one of our SS camaro's. Honestly I've never used it because I drive the car more than it sits.

However I do use car covers on some of my other classic cars that sit for longer periods of time. I buy them from California Car Covers. I've never had any issues with them, and they are always used in a climate controlled garage. Never outside.
What I do as an added measure of protection is lay soft fuzzy cotton sheets over the cars before I put the actual cover on. Just piece of mind for me so I don't get those very fine scratches in the finish that would require getting the buffing wheel out.

I used to use a car cover from California Car Covers on my ride. Never had an issue with using it. I don't know about the one shown though. I stopped using a car cover about 2 years ago. It got to be more of a pain than anything else so I just wash the car once a week now and bought a California Duster.

I have that same cover for my ss. Like everyone else has said is that it is a pain. The only time I use it is when I wash the car and it has to sit overnight outside.

I guess I should have added that mine also sits in a garage. I tend to use it only in the winter when I know the car will be sitting from October until April.

Exactly, when I know a car is going to be sitting a while, I'll use a cover. If I'm driving them at least once a week, I don't bother covering.

Agreed with FBJ. I guess not everyone has the privilege of using a garage, but taking a cover off and putting it on several times a week is a pain. Then there is keeping the cover clean. You can't really wash it in a standard washing machine because it is too large. You have to use an industrial size washer at a cleaner.

Subscribed. I started looking at covers about 2 years ago for inside storage. I really liked one they call the "Dust Top" or something like that. My other thought was to simply go with a very thin and lightweight nylon cover.

That's something similar to what I have Jeff. It's extremely soft. Like mentioned, I did use it for about 8 straight years. I recently stopped using it just because I started driving the car more often. It's nice having it for the winter months though. Keeps the car from really getting covered in dust when I know I won't be washing it for several months.

Thanks for the input i figured id have numerous different opinions with car covers. I know some people dont like to use them at all. How would i find out if this cover is breathable?

I never worried much about breathable covers, I use a de-humidifier in the shop to keep moisture down (not that it's a problem out here in AZ anyway).

But if you plan to use a cover outside and since you live in moist PA, breathable would be a good idea even if you are inside. Humidity is terrible out there. Get yourself a de-humidifier for the garage if you are serious about keeping your car nice.

Sorry it took so long.. They start at $40 and the most expensive is $91. The only cover I would let touch any of my cars. I have had several different cars with their covers on them!!!

Z28Thunder what covers do you see that are 40-91? I cant find them. I would like to find a nice tight fitting custom fit one. But i want it to be breathable so it wont hurt the paint. I also want it to be very soft so i dont need to worry about it being abrasive to the surface. What car cover would you recommend me look at that meets that criteria?
