Not going to be much fun at the track if Saturday turns super hot.

Washed the car up this evening and took her out for about 3 hours of cruising around. Around 10PM I was cruising on rt 30 and saw another Camaro. It was a 01/02 NBM which had some chrome wheels and a nice sounding exhaust. He was ahead of me so I caught up to him.
We ended up coming up to a light together, side by side. He looked over for a few seconds and then when the light turned green he took off regularly so I thought....OK.
Then a little ways ahead I was behind him and he punched it. It sounded pretty mean. So I get up next to him again as we were coming up on some traffic and another red.
I asked him...man that sounds pretty good...what do you have done to it? His response was simply this "Not nearly as much as you have done to yours". I couldn't do anything but laugh. We got up a little ways and I stomped on it from 1st and took it thru 2nd and then let off of it.
He caught up to me, got beside me, and then gives me a thumbs up.
These are the nights I live for.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Nice!
This is what I did throughout the late 70's and early 80's. By the mid 80's I had a car capable of making $$$ (high 11 - low 12 second runner) so instead of stoplight racing I started going to where the big boys parked and I started choosing off other guys to make money. I changed things up from time to time (cams, heads and gears) but externally you couldn't tell. Cheating during a street race was par for the course.
For all they knew I had a stock 350 with a PG and 2.73 gears

Changing the transmission fluid in the Suburban and you have to remove the bracket for the shift cable to drop the pan. Not the same setup as an F-body with the bracket secured by the pan bolts. I had to unbolt the crossmember and lower the transmission to give myself room to work.

Finally home.
Just in case anyones considering going next year...take like..a week to go through that place. There's just wayyy too damn much there to try to cover in one day. And whoever setup this show in the middle of July is a huge, summer-loving dickhead. Who puts a carshow in a 300+ acre facility with no breeze?
Hung out with Brandon a bit as he was there reppin' for Performance Years again. Pops ordered some wheels for his Camaro, and I bought nothing but drinks and some food. We skipped the majority of the cars in the parking lot area next to the racetrack. Just wayyy too much to try and look at @ 3:00 in the afternoon with no shade.

I figured you guys had to be dying up there. Any sign of Ronn or his Dart in the ocean of people and vehicles?

Did you get yourself another giant donger? lol I was so waiting for the money shot of you with that one Friday evening. lol
What type of wheels did your pops get? I am digging his car. Still think he needs to take her down the track.
After seeing his I want to work on the 69. I have the engine, tranny, a rear that we can use (though it needs the hangers moved), fly wheel, torque converter, carb, air cleaner, headers, I think a new set of plugs and wires, new disributor, coil.....etc I have a ton of shit. Just need to clean out my garage, get a cherry picker, and a few sets of hands and we could have that baby ready to burn some rubber. It wont look pretty but oh well! lol
Oh, Daves woman ran the car out of gas. The opti is fine.
I hear you. But it sure beats going to a crappy auction with the ole lady and her family and mine.
I will check with Rusty again to make sure but he said its a go for him (as of Thursday), Dave might even bring Zappers old ride on down now that it has some gas in it. lol

Not my day... although the B&M deep pan will technically fit the Suburban, I would need to drop the exhaust to install it. Then found that the TCI filter will not fit the stock pan, which has a ledge on the front passenger side corner. Off to the parts store I go.
