get a stall? or not?
For those who posted on my recent threads. My transmission went out! 3rd and 4th. I'm thinking about installing a stalled converter. Not for racing but for everyday driving. I was told it will give it tha manual type sound and feel like a stick shift. Would it be ok to have a stall for everyday driving? If so what do you all recommend?

Many people DD after market converter's. For a DD I would go with a 3500 converter. That is what I had in my car for 3 years. Then I had TCI make it a 4000. But a 3500 is a great DD converter IMO. Good manners, good gas miilage, etc. Once it is in there and you're use to it. You will say the car should have came that way.

Get your xmsn fixed, then get a stall. IMO dont get anything lower than a 3K, I DD a TCI3500 and it's fine. Get a xmsn cooler along with the stall and if possible thro a shift kit in there. My car had a shift kit installed when I bought it, now with the stall and a cam it's different animal. You'll definitely wonder why it wasn't stalled from the factory.

If your rebuilding the tranny, get the Beast Sunshell installed. I agree, a 3400 - 3600 stall for a DD !!!

Why should I go with a beast sunshell? Does a sunshell come in a rebuild kit?

I have a Yank Y3000 stall in my vehicle for over 9 years, and if I did it over again I would go with nothing less than a 3600 stall. My vehicle has 3.73 rearend gears.
Also consider a SF-29 racegrade flexplate, as long as you are in there.
Purchase a major brand converter, you get what you pay for.

I do wanna make it more durable but not looking to do any hard racing. Maybe a TT one time. I'm thinking over 3000 wud be a little too much for traffic or city driving. I've never experienced a stalled converter so I'm jus thinkin outside the box basically! More info would be greatly appreciated!

For everyone that commented a question? Do your cars all have cams? Mine has no cam and all stock. Which converter is best without a cam?

Had my stall and cooler installed the same time I had the ASA cam installed, it is a completely different animal now but I can't keep the grin of my face when I'm driving it. I DD this car and can't imagine driving another auto performance car without a stall. As stated before, I wouldn't get anything less than a 3000 stall but for a DD you might want to just keep it between 3000-3600 and get a cooler installed along with it. I didn't have the xmsn rebuilt when the stall went in but I would definitely recommend researching the "beast" sunshell. From what I've read it sounds like a damn good investment and if you are having some work done on your xmsn it cant hurt.

I don't plan on installing a cam no time soon. Question is wat size is best without a cam.

With less power, it will flash at a lower rpm... I agree with the 3500 stall...
