First Race! 2000 Z28 vs. Evo 9
I was driving back from the body shop after getting a quote to paint my hood when a black lancer pulled up even with me and asked what I had. I said I have an ls1. He says cool, and I asked if he wanted to run em. So we get on the highway and went from a roll, I was in mid 2nd. I honked and we took off! We were fender to fender until I shifted into fifth and he started to pull. Just after that I had to shut it down as there was traffic in my lane. I was pretty surprised, because I thought it was just a de-badged lancer. We pulled into a conveient store and shot the bull for a while. Turns out he was an Evo 9 with a tune, headers, and obviously a turbo. He was an m5, said he dyno tuned it last month, and pull 333 hp to the wheels. Kinda disappointed he pulled on me, I am tempted to take the $500 I was going to paint the hood with and buy headers or 4:10's! Losing even by a little sucks!!

They can be very quick/ fast. Yea I ran an evo one time when I was around 378whp on my old cam and he was stock turbo w/ more boost/tune and I only pulled out maybe a car on him. I'd edge him out a little bit after every shift. He told me he figured he was around 380awhp. He didn't dyno his car but he wanted to see where he thought he was in power. Very close runs.

Some of those evos can make 360-380whp with the stock turbo with bigger injectors if they are cammed.

Dark Blue- 2000 Z
Having both an Evo and Camaro I race them all the time and a stock camaro will take a stock evo from a roll but it takes very little to make an evo very fast. Good race its always fun to have a close race.

Evos are some nice rides and with the availability of e85 they are quickly becoming some of the top street competitors. My tuner's dd is a 800+awhp EVO 8, and his gf's car is a 2010 lancer ralliart. The ralliart with a tune, test pipe, and catback pulls on my Gto, even after my tune. We shall see the outcome of our next race with my heads and cam

back in 98 had a friend with a pretty quick lt1 z28 get buttraped by a awd turbo stealth racing from a dig.stealth was modified but i know the z28 was a 13.7 quarter mile car.looked like the stealth jumped 3 cars right out of the hole!

Not too bad... they usually run right around our same time with equal mods done (and when I say equal mods Im only suggesting bolt ons at most). Both cars have different gears that pull better than some, but in general the Evos are pretty fast too.
I beat a stock 06 Evo MR with just cat-back at a light from a 1st gear roll, we werent sure if we were going to run due to cops always being around that road. but i looked over hit the throttle just a little bit, and the guy in the Evo looked at me and took off i punched it pretty much the same time he did. I put about 2-3cars on him half way through 3rd gear after spinning 1st hard and short shiftin into 2nd. I was somewhat amused by it i guess.
