My Suburban needed a new motor when the piece of shit 5.3 spun a rod bearing on me at 122k miles. I take comments like that with a grain of salt, all manufacturers have their issues.
And also, prove the tests bias and inaccurate then, they have the tests on video, I'm sure if it were GM that did this you would be QUICK to believe that it's all true and there would be NO dispute about it. Show me another truck currently in it's class that makes the power that this EcoBoost does, can pull as much as it does and is still rated at 16 city/22 highway. Until then, it's a pretty good truck in my book.

That's pretty much how I see it.
Every one of us knows a horror story about 'x' manufacturer's engine grenading the minute it drove off the dock. Hell, I know 20 horror stories from friends with the trucks transmission in their Avalances, Tahoes, etc grenading at about every 40K miles.
The question was: Can it out accelerate the Dodge and the Chevy up the same incline carrying the same weight? And it did.
Styling is subjective, so no point in arguing that.
But basing the truck on its own merits vs what it can and can't do versus the competition? Hell yeah, we can debate that all day long. But when gas prices go up as it's been forecast, this truck is going to sell like freaking hotcakes.

I think its a neat engine thats for sure. I like all the boundaries Ford has been pushing lately. People might start pulling the brand loyalty crap in response to something like this, but Ford doing shit like this engine, the 5.0 coyote, the strong 3.7 v6 etc makes both GM and Chrysler improve as well. Competition makes the american public in turn get better product. I think if this keeps up, people will consider american vehicles first and get off the fucking import kick.

Bolts will snap if they are corroded in man. People put a lot of nasty shit in a pickup bed. Those bolts see a lot of water and temperature change and rarely have to come out, so although that fucking blows and if I was the guy doing that job i'd be pissed, that doesnt mean the bolt itself was weak. I get your point though.
The test you are referring to on this engine not being similar to real life, its as close to real life as it gets. They really kicked the shit out of that thing. If anything these engines wont even see that much stress. How many f150s with every luxury you can get and leather do you see in suburban towns? How many of them do you really think get pushed that hard? Pickups are like luxury cars on stilts these days lol

Impressive if its true but I wanna see some independent testing. I don't believe any car makers "testing" they almost always bias it towards their vehicle. Til then I call bs.

Black 2002 T/A M6- Green 1997 Ram 4x4
Blah.
I'm still wondering what happened to the "baby diesel" projects all 3 had out a couple years ago. Producing similar power/torque to the standard gas v8's. were getting 25-30mpg, and were only supposed to be around a $2-3k option for the half tons.
People were lining up to place orders, then all three just kinda shelved their respective projects at the same time..

I understand with this WI weather that the bolts seen their fair share of shit but I was using that as one example. My buddy when not working at his Father's shop is over to my pad working and wrenching for friends and others (I have tons of tools I inherited) I see more Fords come through this driveway then anything so thats the experience I am refering off of (Not Brand Loyalty) I understand things change and just because something was shit years ago, doesn't mean its shit now. The Ford truck won fair and square as it seems in the video but how does it stop? How does it handle? How does it etc......? I'm not quick to call it a good truck, time will tell

I'm with you, although i'm sure its a good truck the testing is still bias and figures and results set up to show ford as the best. I've been watching/checking out this truck for the last month or so and was actually going to post a thread about this to get everyones input. Its definitely impressive and has gotten rave review from most sites that have gotten there hands on it. The torque of that motor is just awesome, I have never really been a ford fan but they are putting out some stuff not that I would really really consider buying.
Fuel mileage has been released by the epa at 16cty/22 highway which is way off from what I have read on some sites that have tested the truck for a few hundred miles. Some made claims of 25mpg others as high as 35mpg some made estimates around 24mpg so I will wait for some real testing by some big names and real people on the street. Also seen a few videos of this truck doing a 14.6 1/4 which is damn fast for a stock truck. This truck has everything I would want, its fast, powerful, good amount of interior space in the supercrew, gets good mpg(shit it gets better mpg than my gto). If I were to buy a truck I think this would be the one but I would wait to pick one up used with low miles. I priced one out on fords site and it hit 37k with what I wanted. Which option wise was not much other than the motor and 3.73 gears.

Just because it will beat the Chevy and Dodge in a straight line race (Could careless about loaded/unloaded and grade of incline) Dyno break in testing is no where accurate compared to real world driving where things are unexpected with a million different variables.

I guess in the 80's when cars took design cues from fileing cabinets it had some truth to it
