If you have the funds for a newer car, I'd probably go that route over everything else. I wouldn't put the money into your Trans Am. I like the idea of the G8, it would serve as a much, much better all around daily driver (assuming you would be daily driving the car) than any kind of F-Body for sure. Also, as most of us know, the potential is there as well since it's an LSX based car. Only other things I'd consider looking at as well would be the GTO's, 03-04 Cobra's, C5 Z's + C6's as well. If none of those, I'd go for a G8, just my $.02

If my motor was to go, I would def park it and start a rebuild honestly cause the t/a is my dream car lol I dont see the point in getting rid of it because the heart died I would do a transplant to a bigger better heart.

The ls3 sure does have a nice torque curve but for what you could build for the cost of an ls3 would be so much more. like an ls2 or lqx with some l92 heads and a cam and youd be well over the capability of any stock ls3 with bolt ons. just my .02
i am keeping my f body..and will be getting a g8 to drive. I am confused by your statement about the ls2 vs the ls3...there isnt even a question...stock for stock the ls3 will win...bolt on vs bolt on the ls3 will win.. mod vs mod the ls3 will win. comparing a stroker ls2 to a stock to bolt on ls3 is silly....the lqx are out of the question also..i dont need or want more front end weight.

Yeah, my 98 spun a rod bearing on my original 5.7L, I suspect it was the oil pump that did it. Of course having it wound up at 6600 rpm I'm sure contributed.

The tell tale is if there is no oil pressure, or extremely low oil pressure reading, you probably have a spun bearing. Only getting it out and tearing it apart will tell you how much $ your gonna need. But by all means upgrade to an LS6 oil pump next time around. Well worth the extra few bucks..

Plus, when you jump the car, it helps to balance it.

    LS3 would be wicked.
