"RealliveMD".......That's pretty fucking low. Had a situation kinda like that, not quite as bad. My wife is a real estate broker and had my best friends house for sale. Ours was for sale at the same time ~6 years ago, right before the bottom started dropping out of the market. Our house sold first and they got pissed and changed agents. The kicker is the couple that bought it were already showed the house by my wife, so the other agent didn't do dick but collect the commission.

The funny thing is this was supposed to be kind of a repayment for me doing the electric (I'm a electrician) in his basement, which would have cost anyone else ~3k.

I can relate. Back in high school my best friend since kindergarten ran across an open locker with an ipod sticking out of a bag inside. On a whim he decided to steal it. I wanted no part in it and left before he pulled it out of the locker. During our next class period which we had together(sat next to each other) we were both pulled out of class by two cops and a VP. After explaining that I had no part in the theft and that my friend stole the ipod on his own, they inspected his bags, and found nothing. So they went through my stuff, and low and behold the ipod was in my bag. Turns out in our previous class he had slipped the ipod in my bag since he new someone had saw him take it and ratted him out, that way I'd walk out of school with it and he'd just take it from my bag later. In the end I ended up with 5 days of suspension, striped of being the 3yr captain of our Varsity soccer team, and kicked out of the applicant list of many scholarships I signed up for.
Words can't explain the freight train I was hit with that day.

So basically it cost you $220 to get rid of a "shitty friend" not worth having.

I'm not familiar with fantasy leagues and such or the arrangement that you had with him as far as money went... That being said, what was the agreement? He specifically stated he was gonna pay you X amount of money by a certain time? When he said he didnt have the money did he say he was gonna pay you at a later date? Or did he tell you to basically go climb a tree? My position is you dont loan other people money to basically gamble with lol Its kind of an oxymoron

There'd be a shallow grave in a remote location somewhere. And I'd be one friend short.

The principle of this sucks....but really, it's only $200 guys. Is it worth getting that riled up over it?

what gets me about people like that is had the "friend" been the winner, I'm sure he'd have been beating down the door of the money-holder to get his payout.

If you make a bet, you need to be willing to lose plain-and-simple. Maybe in future years the money or buy-in will be collected up front and held.
