    Savage 300 win mag

What are your opinions on this gun and the companys quality? I plan on using it for slow weekends and open area hunting. I like my 30-30 for brush

Its got a 3 round clip and comes with a ok scope as a package for 379.99. 499.99 for stainless but I am looking at the 379.99 package.

I have looked into SM a little. But i dont see them for sale as much as i do just 300 WM. I was looking at gander mountain since I have a 100 dollar gift card for there and didnt see any short mag. I have heard they get almost the same results.

Get the accutrigger model it is well worth it. The scope will leave much to be desired, but will work for the time being.

Savage has really stepped up in the center fire rifle department in the past ten years or so. I'd have no problems buying one. I will say that I don't think there is much on the continent that a .270 or 30-06 can't handle. At roughly 6.5 lbs that thing will beat you to death

The scope is def leaving something to be desired. I should mount it to my 30-30 because it aint much use past 40yards.

I am probably going to buy a new scope around tax return time. I was thinking bushnell 4200 series or 6500 series. Always heard those were good. What you think?

+1 on the savages. I have 2 savages and love them both.

On to the scopes...like most things, you get what you pay for. Determine your budget and then look into something that fits your application. I do a bit of long range shooting and both of my long range rifles have Bushnell scopes. I like them but have shot better optics. I just don't have Nikon money. Just like folks asking about cams on the forum, you need more info to make a good recommendation on a scope. I will say again though, for the money, Bushnell makes some of the best stuff I've seen which is the reason I shoot them.

Don't know what your budget is but if you plan on getting serious about long range shooting I would recommend a Schmidt and Bender MP series scope. Have a Horus H58 or 37 put in it and you will be set for what ever you want to do. That is what I use down range and have on 2 of my personal guns and live them to death

Budget is probably 300-400 max for the scope.
