Can you post up a vid of i that way well be able to tell. How is your oil psi?Is it erratic or non existant? A lifter piston slap or bent pr could make anyof the noises you've described a bent rod would be ungodly loud so its probably not that but lets be sure... Does the noise escalate with rpms? Does it disappear at any point?

One more things i see your an m6? Have u recently missed a shift or forced a down shift causing an over rev? If so you VERY likely bent a pushrod which is no big deal but a video is the best way... bent prs: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J61swhg1ZMM[/ame]

that is exactly what the engine on my '98 TA sounded like, and it ended up having 4 spun bearings. lifters and pushrods were not the problem in my case.

that is rod knock from either a spun rod bearing or multiple rod beariings.

that sound is beyond bent pushrods or failed lifters.

looking at prices of possible parts i might need to replace on texas speed tho..
    LS6 oil pump $110 (ported $175)
    h rod bearings $73
    ls7 lifters $140
    ls7 pushrods $150
    ls1 rocker arms $250
    ls1 crankshaft $750

they have a GM 6.0L cast iron block for $750...needs pistons rods and a crankshaft tho... hmmm. wonder what else is needed for the swap...ill have to look into this...

    wtf is a rotating assembly?
all that is speculative at best. you don't need any of those unless there is an issue with them. if its not broke, don't fix it.

when i rebuilt the Ls1 in my '98 just last month, i dropped about $40 for a new set of (8) rod bearings. we polished the crank and everything measured within tolerance/clearance specs. so there was no need for any additional work to be done.

all the rockers were fine, pushrods, oil pump, etc. i spent $200 to have the starter and alternator worked over and cleaned up. $50 for new oil/filter, and $20 or so for coolant, $40 for new gaskets, $40 for new head bolts, $20 for a new serpentine belt.

of course i did the work, so i did not have to pay a shop. basically for less than $500 total the car runs like brand new. 68k on the car now.

these engines are easier to work on than most people think. it's the removal/install that takes time and patience.

this guy actually pullled out the PR's hes a member over on tech and they looked like pretzels put new ones in and its fixed. Rod bearings atleaast ones thatg ive heard are much louder and coe from the bottom of the engine where bent pr's and piston slap can be heard predominantly around the heads. rod failure isnt as common as it used to be with 01-up motors because of a better oil pump and the use of thicker rod bolts

I'm willing to bet you cracked the flywheel, personally. Under heavy load and no load, it goes away, but when you put a LITTLE pressure on it, it clicks. Makes sense to me...but you may have compounded the problem with a pushrod bend. The rev limiter is there for a reason.

oil is normal. and it goes away under WOT but partial throttle is a clicking and turned to knocking after she got warm... and yes i had a pretty hard downshift against a Z06 running 75 downshifting to third and redlined which i actually had an over rev. but like i said...snow will have me stuck in the Monte so i wont be driving her much. ill get n the shop to check this out.
but the sound comes from the top of the block...not the bottom. and its not a piston slap

ok i gotcha to be honest overrevving the engine likke that can hurt a few things but usually it just bends pushrods but the fact the sound changes when its warm is kinda weird. like we said if theres anyway u can get a video of it idling cold and warm it will help a lot

It could make the problem really easy to find ...when the rod comes out the side of the block.

$4000 for a rebuild? You can drop in a new engine for cheaper than that
