I bought the car last week. And it was like that

not due to just the sway bar being broken but how does someone break a sway bar? Is the bar itself broken or the end links? Might've taken a nasty hit under there or something.

Do you have traction control? I *think* most, if not all, 98's were 3 channel abs. The sensor is right in the top of the pumpkin. If the bar is broken you may want to check that plug and sensor up there and make sure it's not broken off of something like that. If it has traction control it's a 4 channel abs set up though and the sensors will be at the wheels.

I had my lights on, cause of the abs/tc module. A new module alone is almost 1k, but there is a website that rebuilds it for $180. 6 screws and 2 electronic connectors, so it's a easy job.
www.modulemaster.com
So far it's working fine

have a shop scan the computer first, just to make sure if your module is the problem. I got back my module within a week from sending it. I also needed a star bit for the screws.
good luck

aged I know but I having a similar issue on my 98 TA but my ABS is actively braking while im just normll braking at first, then after a few times of this, it kicks on the ABS inop light on and then the braking goes back to normal, but the lights on and im sure the ABS would not come one if I had to panic stop. looks like I might have to replace the hubs.... again.... gonna get it scanned to see which ones are acting up.

This is part of the reason why I'm deleting my ABS once I get the rear finished off.
