Artic White- 2001 Camaro SS
I'm from the area where this crash happened. I'm not taking up for the kid, but as for the comments about him freezing up and not trying to avoid the bus, those are incorrect. He did try to avoid the bus, but due to the wet roads the car just slide sideways and he was actually hit in the side by the bus, not a head-on collision. After seeing some other pictures from different angles, I don't think that him not wearing his seatbelt made any difference at all, he would have been dead either way. The sad part about the whole story is that just a couple of weeks before the accident, his father was talking about how they should sell the car because they were worried about him getting hurt in it.

Lol. You honestly expect his parents to do that? They were dumb enough to get him the car when he was 18. I doubt they will take it away. Thats the risk any parent takes when buying their kid a fast car at such a young age. I still remember the words the guys mom told my dad when he handed me the keys to my trans am when I was only 17. "Sir you just bought your son a loaded gun and all he has to do is pull the trigger".
"Life is to short to drive a slow car"

statements like this are like telling a 6 year old they can't have a piano cause they won't ever learn to play until they are older...
it doesn't matter what kind of car the kid had... he would have pulled the same stupid shit with a 4 cyl...
everyone is so quick to blame the parents... sure they are some what responsible but to completly blame them is ignorant...

however its a true stereotype.. stereotyple only exist because of fact (regardless of the car) However a faster car requires more skill and respect. Something 16-18years do not have.
I have owned fast cars my entire driving age, luckily i lived through my teens and early 20's. I can also say, i am a millions tons better driver then I was when 16-18
fact on the stereotype
-accidents rates have increased tremendously since the laws passed stating 16 yrs olds can obtain a drivers license and drivers ed would be offered in schools.
-death toll in car accident have increased
-insurance rates for everyone has increased
obtaining a drivers license should be more difficult and class times/road times should be increased.

true... its tough to blame the parents more then 50% without knowing the parents.
Sadly most parents have the misconception "oh not my child, my child would never drive like that or kill someone
so many parents are blind to whom their child really is, this way it takes blame off the parent, when their kid turns out to be a recluse.
Then again some parents are very good with their kids, and their kids are just assholes...

No doubt this is true. However the main reason is because of drunk driving. 4 people who are under 21 die every day due to alcohol. Thats nearly 30 kids a week just because of drunk driving. I am willing to bet that street racing/rash driving in fast cars probably wont even be 10% of that every month.
I am not going to argue that there is a VERY strong correlation between kids dying and fast cars. But I doubt thats the root cause to why insurance is going up. If 4 kids die every day you can bet your ass that the insurance will go up....
If you pull out the record book, I bet you will find for every 10 normal crashes there is at max 1 or 2 fast car crashes. And the reason why insurance sky rockets for everyone is because 9 times out of 10 the person who is responsible for the crash most likley takes or injurs some one else with him...

no shit, there are plenty of econo shit boxes crumpled up like a coke can in the junk yard. You can spin a four cylinder s10 backwards in the rain aswell. Nor is a 13 second car that insanelyfas to where onl a race car driver can handle it. A dumbass driver can and will wreck in anything

490 is far from the largest pinger (even then), but god damn the power band
yz426 in elementary school is as crazy as the skill/bike ratio got for me. Bikes taught me throttle up, not out, and numerous other skills. Works 99% of the time in cars too. If kids all did a motorsport of some sort, we would all be better off
A machine will only do what your right hand/foot tell it to

lol single cylinder pretty sure there might only be one bigger but you got my point, and yea for only 4 gears, at 65mph just rolling into the throttle steady but aggressive the front end just rises nice and easy till you back out of it, my mechanic who has rebuilt the top end twice on it test rode it once after the first rebuild and nearly killed himself, and will not get on it now... which is our point, respect it and it will treat you nicely
