Very nice.. I have to say, im real glad everything is coming together for you. I had a 94 formula and my opti was going out, suprise suprise..so I decided to do an engine overhaul, ended up with everything from top to bottom from new heads, cam, and a 383 stroker and never got it running right. That is the last time I will ever tear into a motor. So kudos to you. I'm just going to stick with a twin turbo set up on my 00 ws6. Be looking for that write up.

Sooooo, I finally got back in my garage now that the 4 feet of snow that was blocking the door is gone. I was having a problem with my MAP not reading properly. I pulled the intake for easier access, and found the vac port under the MAP that I had originally capped, was now wide open. This explained my erratic idle (somewhat).I capped this port thinking it only ran the AIR sytem. Come to find out, the heater controls are vacuum controlled
I hooked the vacuum line from the firewall directly to the port, and the controls work fine. As for the MAP sensor, I think the pins had pushed there way back into the plug and were not making contact. I buttoned everything back up, and I'm getting readings from the MAP on my HPT.
Next problem I encountered, was an intermittent misfire in 1,3,5,7. I found that rocking the main coil plug made the engine race or die. This plug had been spliced (poorly) by the previous owner. I ordered a new one from Nook and Tranny off Ebay that will be here next week. it's an extension piece, so i'll have plenty of extra for a proper splice. Once that's squared away, I can FINALLY get to the tuning!

I dissappeared into a winter "wonderland". My garage was blocked for 3 months. I had no room for anymore freakin snow mounds. LOL

So I failed emission the other day. My MAP keeps tripping, I'm assuming because of the cam. I think I'll just disable the warning and bring it back in.
On the up side, I've been tinkering with my fuel trims in HPT and it runs like a top. I'm getting a bit too much knock retard at high rpm, but I'm hoping I can clear that up when I tune the MAF. It's running a bit lean when the MAF takes over control from the VE tables. I'll get some pics and vids when I'm off next week

Failed the retest on emissions today. I hid the MAP sensor so it wouldn't report, now I have a "lazy" O2 sensor that doesn't always want to heat. If it doesn't heat, you fail in CT. Car is running great, though. I've managed to get the car pretty squared away with HP Tuners. It idles like there's a much smaller cam bumping in there, but sounds like all business. I have the rev limiter raised to 6800, and she pulls strong the whole way. She's off to the dyno on Thursday! Hopefully they can figure out the O2 while it's there, fine tune everything, and get a video of the final pull to post here!
